2nd gen is fairly simple.
Radio plate needs to come off, steering column should be lowered(don't have to remove I just spin the mounting hardware to the limit, take the small column trim off first). Then the normal wiring sockets, plugs, speedo cable.
Cluster screws are right in the front.
Someone will jump in with what I missed.

terrible one

I simply unscrewed mine, pulled it out a bit, unplugged everything, then maneuvered it out. I kept my column and radio plate in place. :scratchchin:

440charger68

i didnt have to do much either, on my 68 i just pop the radio bezel and take the plastic molding off the corner of the window and disconnect speedo cable and all the electrical and it will just work out from there, didnt have to lower the steering column
life's a garden, dig it.

I know 3rd gens needs to drop column. is mandatory because needs to drop down also the cluster, but I was finding 2nd gens are pretty much straight up and does look there is room for that.

So, piece of cake right ? won't find I need some trick like twist something ? LOL

I would drop the column. If you don't it will bind/rub.  :Twocents:
