yes it is available on dvd.  what region dvd are you able to view in Belgium?
example, region 1 is U.S.A and Canada.

You can find copies all day on ebay and amazon.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Hi, the filming took place in the stockton, linden, farmington, jackson, clements area in northern calif...

Which scene(s) would have been filmed in Jackson?

when they blew through the hwy 99 junction after the roadblock was broken up after they left the gas station.

The roadblock at old-99 Junction looked to me like it was here:

And they drove through in the Charger heading West.

But I could be wrong.

Does that other location bring us any nearer to finding some of the other locations we're still searching?

I am going to see if i can locate a guy I worked with when we were both with Quinn Martin productions and worked closely with each other on "THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO"  I talked to him  last about 3 years ago and he was a location scout during out time with Streets.  if i can get a hold of him, he would know WHO and WHERE to find  the location information. When we went out of town for some of the episodes we had to scout, and work close with the local authorities and apply for and get permits with insurance and permission in writing from owners of private property, so there ARE records but the question is, Did someone keep them, take them home for souvineers ( spelled that wrong i am sure :o) etc. I found a lot of the locations with the help of my aunt who lived in stockton at the time and my cousins still do. The best thing to do is find a local and sit down together & watch the movie and  they will reconize the areas in the scenes. I haven't seen my cousins for a couple of years so it may be time for a visit and a MOVIE.

Your right Tan Top, but they are probably buried so deep you would have to pump daylight to them  through a garden hose :smilielol: Vanishing point is another favorite of mine ( I like the original more than the 1996 remake of it which was good also) That was filmed here in Nevada not too far from me in a few of the scenes, Those cars were accounted for in an article about the new concept challenger. There are a few replicas selling on car sites that are pretty pricy but also include a replica full size colorado license plate of OA-5599. I still trying to find the guy i worked with but i know others who may know how to contact him.

Would this movie be available on DVD? Never heard about it before but would like to see it. Maybe it never reached Europe. :scratchchin:

The movie was shown at the theater in England on a double bill with the Lee Marvin movie 'Prime Cut'. I saw the movie as a teenager in 75/76? and, along with the American Racing Wheels advert featuring Big Willie is the reason I got into Mopars...

Ghoste

It was shown in other parts of Europe too, I have a Spanish theater poster somewhere around here.  A Japanese one too so the flick did get some global release.

Smokey Bear

I'm posting these that were sent to me by RallyeMike who drove through this area a couple weeks ago:

1) Save Mart today. The scene where they jump the construction trailer after the robbery is definitely down in the valley and not right outside the store.

2) Walnuts grove. Miles and miles of them.

3) The general store in Farmington where they try and ditch Mary. Still looks the same, though now closed as there is a new gas station and market kitty corner.

4) Bills Pool hall is now reopened with a fresh paint job as "Elb Hemi" sports bar. You can't pull around back like Larry did due to a fence and HUGE satellite dish.

when I had my charger 7 months after i got it from the studios resource motor pool at quinn martin, We ( me, the ex aka charger killer, & my friend paul ) took a drive to stockton and following the map notes left in the trunk of the charger along with the blue denim shirt, sound  cable trash  and a flat spare tire, we drove into linden, cal. and drove into Bills & parked in back and went inside. The pool table was in the main bar room and not in the side room where it was in the movie. The 2 signs in the window were there and so was a sign over the front door that read, " THE FILM DIRTY LARRY CRAZY MARY WAS FILMED IN THIS BAR" they had the movie title backwards and the man at the bar went out back & came back in and said HEY, the  car  that was in that movie is here, and the 2 customers all went out back and asked if we would wait for him to go home and get his camera. he went to the store down the street and bought 2 disosable cameras instead and came right back. Charger killer was impatient as always and wanted to go home no sooner than we got to stockton and we wish we would have left her home. all she would do is roll her eyes and say I WANT TO GO HOME. we had driven in from the bay area and she complained the entire time :eek2: :brickwall:

It's one of my dream drives to go through the area one day.

68pplcharger

That blows my mind... I never knew where the film was filmed until today after reading this thread. I was in Sonora three years ago, beautiful place. I wish i would have known.  :brickwall:

Does any body know the specific places (i.e. have addresses) to go to Walnut grove, save mart etc. I was going to bring thew little wife to Sonora one day and it would be cool to visit these places.

Ghoste

There is a thread on here in which Fastback Jon (and others) found a lot of the places on Google Maps and they added the geographic locations in there.

If you have the DVD and have a ZOOM feature on your DVD player, zoom in on the map when Franklin is standing next to it teling the other cop to "break up all those road blocks and start a sweep search" you can see the towns on that map . my dvd player scrolls up, down. left & right when in zoom mde. you can see hwy 99  linden calif. san joquin ( mispelled i am sure ) also today i noticed that the charger goes up on the hill ( the scene when the cop car flys backward into the river) it goes up and comes off as a 69 BUT, when the charger is seen above the cop cars roof on the hill,  IT IS THE 68, YEP, on ZOOM you can see the 68 round taillights AND the round fender marker lights. the charger then comes off the hill and back onto the road as a 69 UNTIL the front shot that shows the 68 grille. I wanted to post that here so you can check it with your DVD in zoom mode and pause/step. I have ZOOM X 3

I was watching my DVD and I have a 3 X zoom and freeze frame feature and saw that the 69 chager that limped into the walnut grove was NOT the same charger that hit the truck originally, but another charger that had simular intentional damage to resemble the 69. The charger that limped into the grove was a 68 that had phoney a 69 tail light panel. What got my attention on that was as the car moved through the camera view, the left rear quarter panel was missing the red  reflector and on the stripe next to where it says  440, there is a  round 68 fender light that you can see in the stripe and the 69 tail panel sits wrong and too high up, where the black panel above the lights is only an inch or 2 below the trunk lid and it is suppossed to be about 6 inches. Also, there are NO back up lights in the lower valance under the rear bumper. I noticed also that during the end of the chase after the chopper landed, the charger takes a hard  right and 2 farm workers are loading their pick up truck & look at the car as it screams by, I froze that scene after i noticed something new on the charger & that was a 6 foot CB antennae on the right front fender that appears in that 1 scene only and the small CB antennae on the rear window is still on the car. The large antennae has a spring on the bottom and it is a stainless steel anntenae. When I bought my charger from the production companies  "available"car poole i found a few things in the trunk including a blue denim shirt with a grease stain on the left shoulder/arm,  sound equipment cable ends, a beat up area road map of stockton, farmington & hwy 99 areas maked in circles, and also in the trunk sticking through the side of the back seat into the rear passenger area was a stainless steel 6 foot CB antennae. I took that out of the car because it was too long to keep in there & kept that in my garage. I used that antennae on the truck i bought after getting rid ( i hate that term) of the car after a divorce. I kept that anntenae and after 37 years I still have that thing & when i discovered those scenes last week i went into my garage where i have it still. I have moved several times since then but always held onto that thing for some reason completley forgetting where i got it originally. Now that i know, i am overwhelmed at the fact that i STILL have a piece of that movies history & had it all this time.
