Just picked up this 72 GTX. Original black with white interior, 4spd, Dana with 3.54's, Disc brakes. Runs and drives pretty nice.

C'mon bull he's going for post count. ;D

Nice ride Jim.   It was Jim right.     I saved you PM's on the other board.   Abso frickin' lutely beautiful.   Those 3rd generations are comin on.   I don't think I've ever seen a '72 Geettxx.   How do you do it, always scoring cool rides like that!

It's Tom in MI. I have had a few 70 Chargers, 71 Chargers and Bee's. I have been watching these Plymouths the last few years and really starting to like them allot. There are a couple of guys in my area that seem to snag them every time a cool one comes up. One of of them got this one back for the second time and decided to turn it loose. There were only a couple hundred 4spd GTX'S produced in 72 so I figured it was a good one to snag. They really do seem to be getting a lot more respect these days. Still don't bring the big $ the early cars do but that is OK with me. I wouldn't have been able to afford this car if it was a 70 or even a 71 from what I have seen lately.

If you evr want to sell it I'll buy it, that is a cool car

Hey no problem. I forget names 2 seconds after someone tells me but I rarely forget a Mopar. Why is that :icon_smile_approve:? Selling the black 70 was a bummer but I had to free up the cash to get into the new house we bought. Now that we got it I don't have to show we had any money to afford it so then the GTX pops up. It actually was up before the sale went through but didn't sell so I picked it up last week.
71 is the last GTX with a RS vin. After that they are RM vin with the GTX being a option which gets you the 440 in 72 and 73. They offered this option through 74 but with the 400.

It's a good car but as with most 30+ year old cars it needs a few things. Could use some nicer lower door panels and A-pillars. White should be fun to get. Has the build sheet and original fender tag. Pretty much sits the way it was purchased except it should have the front bumper guard and it had black steel wheels with hub-caps with white-walls from the factory. Paint is not high quality but isn't bad, which is good because I like to drive em!

Very Nice I want to get a Plymouth,  Of coarse my wife will want me to get rid of the Challenger or Charger first.  Its almost as hard to find a understanding woman as it is a good deal on a mopar :'(

I'm glad I'm not the only one with that problem. :icon_smile_big:

Great looking GTX! I had a 72 400 Satellite a few years ago & I'm still pissed I sold it.
BTW, I noticed Road Runner decals on there too...was a previous owner having an identity crisis?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The 72 is a RR GTX so you get the RR decals and the GTX badges. Sort of weird but that is how they came. Thanks for all the  on the car. Appreciate it!

I think the woman part is allot harder to find. Mine has been understanding so far but the keeper limit is at three. I am trying to squeeze it to 4. We will see.

You just have to tell her you can't get rid of one untill you are sure the new one is good enough to be called a keeper. Then sell one. or not perhaps!  :icon_smile_blackeye:

totally correct.   due to the gas/insurance problems, plymouth decided to run the GTX as an option to the roadrunner cars only.

Very nice! I almost had a 72 GTX. We went to look at it in Ohio (I live in Indiana) and the guy crashed it right before my eyes. So I bought my 73 Charger instead.

Now that you say that, I sorta recall hearing that before.
That piece of my memory was probably re-programmed with "how to install left sock" or something. :icon_smile_big:

Damn, man!  I love those cars!  I prefer the 71 styling, but, still, she's a beauty!

guess i got lucky a couple months ago , when the night i had picked up my charger, a mopar chick i had ben chasing for 2 years called me an asked to see me...the rest is history. her dad has like 20 classic mopars, so till i pass him up i doubt she would ever complain...well that is as long as my next project is a demon for her    :)     some days a guy just gets lucky. i think that was the king of my lucky days

69_500

Great looking find. I hope that you got a decent price on the car, with the way that car prices have been lately. Seems that every car is selling for 10 fold what it was just 3 years ago.

I think it was a fair price for a low production clean correct car. It wasn't cheap though and you are right about prices. I went to Carlisle which use to be a great place to get deals on cars and prices were crazy. The only deals were on undesirable cars.

Thanks again for all the :2thumbs: on the car!!!!!!
