« Reply #20 on: March 11, 2009, 12:32:42 PM »

could be worse man...         working in an auto shop isnt that great either - been there and done that since i was 16...      Try being 22, full time college student, unemployed, and have 3 mopars to restore...       Also have bills like rent, tuition, gas, insurance, phone....       stuff adds up quick man...    dont hate what you're doing because it only gets harder as you get older - at least you have a job when so many people don't anymore...    unemployment here in CA is like 10.1%   Undecided

ya well it still sucks. haha some guy i wanted to buy a hood from waned a grand + shipping haha the only thing i have worth that is my spare parts and my car lmfao.

Well when you're 16 you're not supposed to already have your dream job. Everyone in high school has crappy jobs, I worked at a grocery store all through HS making alot less than that. I also worked as a part time plumber with my uncle, nothing against plumbers but that sure as hell ain't for me! When I turned 20 I finally got a job that got me started on my career path but the pay sure isn't that great. Im almost 23 and still don't have even a charger project, been waiting since I was 8. Cash is too tight as it is to toss another wrench in the works (Like the majority of everyone else). Hang in there, all good things are worth waiting for. Don't get frustrated by what you have (or don't have) because it isn't going to help. Start looking around for different jobs and you might get lucky, just be patient.

wow guys i think everyone here missed the point. I work at a f*****g taco shop  brickwall

I would pay someone to let me work at an auto place.

haha had a guy call me on a bulge hood. wants $1000 for it and shipping will be like $500.

But nnnnnoooooooooo i work at a taco mayo.

making 6.55 an hour

I used to be in the same situation Cody. I then started working three jobs. A day job full time Mon-Fri. Doing bodywork in the evening for cash with a friend and a gas station job on the weekends. I did this until I was 23. I was able to buy my first house when I was 20 and it also paid for my drag racing. Something to consider. I know we are in a bit of a recession and do not know what it is like down there but here if a person really wants to work they can still find a job. Albeit not a great one but a job nevertheless.

You think you hate your job now?  Wait until you have a wife, kids, a mortgage and the stunning realization each morning that you have no choice- you MUST go do it.

Amen.
Cody I'm sorry but I think your missing the point. Please understand, I (WE here at dc.com) are very happy to see a young person interested in a hobby such as cars or in this case Mopars as we all are. Mopar is something that allot of us grew up with and is a "thing" that is very near and dear to our hearts. I think I could speak for everyone here when I say "welcome" to something that many of us truly love. The point being missed is Cody, your a young adult, be a young adult. Savor each and every minute of it. THIS TIME NOW IS THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!! Please realize this now and have fun with it. Save the money you can to work on your car. Spend the money you can for your car your anything you'd like. PLAY!! HAVE FUN!! NOW!! While your young!! (and still can). Play with the cars. Get an education. Maybe college, maybe Tech. school. PICK A TRADE!! Learn a craft. Machinist, Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Micro Biologist,Autobody, automechanic, SOMETHING!! Something that you learn to do with your hands, eyes and brain can NEVER be taken from you and, if you learn a trade well enough and can earn money at it you'll be rewarded in being able to show some other new young person YOUR trade. Have fun. LEARN. PLAY WITH THE GIRLS!! (wrap that rascal, no need to complicate things till your ready).
THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER!!
Enjoy it Cody.
J.J. cheers

Yes...but then you might find a job where you get to travel the world...and post pictures of places you've been.

Then why are you whining about it? Learn enough to get a better job and get the heck out of there! If you can't afford what you want then either your expectations are too high or you're not putting forth enough effort. If you were 20-30 years older it would be sad but you're still young and have a whole world full of opportunity in front of you. Don't start feeling sorry for yourself already - do something to improve your situation!

I worked at Macdonald's when I was 18 YO. Got to be swing manager and then quit. Honestly didn't s**K, I really enjoined the job really by 1 year, 9 months, 15 days I was there.

Enjoy what you are living now, because later you won't have time to enjoy the same as far responsabilities get increased
