I am trying to find someone with a good survivor 69 Charger, 500 or 'Tona. Specifically, I need to know if they have their original trunk mat. I need to ask a few questions about them. I am doing a little research project.  :scope:

Did you try John Atonelli with the Y2 daytona. And his friend Ed Cook who has had several 69 500s

I have pieces of an original one that was in my orange/should be yellow Daytona..what can I do to help you?

Hi John,
Good seeing you again - I had a lot of fun this year.

Remember DP is a Criminal!

I took the mats out of both of mine and I believe I was the first ever to remove the one out of Disco. Doc does not have the braces so it could of been in and out and changed a lot easier. They are the same as each other anyway. The mats are not like my other B-body mats on the bottom. They don't have that pebbly texture (dots). They have more of a rough look. They have the right weight and thickness to them - not like the smooth on top and bottom re-pops. None of them have the part numbers inked on them like all my other non-Charger mats do. Roger sees the same as mine on the ones he has removed over the years. FB is not ready to go along with it 100% yet but he is starting to bend a little.  ;D

How do yours compare?

Anyone else?
Thanks,
Jim

I had pieces from my crumbled original daytona matt .I think it was a herrinbone type pattern

Thanks Dave - My pattern (top) is right - I am curious about the bottom side texture and if there are any ink stamps like all my other non-Charger mats - like my survivor GTX for example    http://www.moparaction.com/Article/GTX-CELLENT/16B.jpg

Mine has an original mat, but I will need a little time to get a look at it.

Well it's nice to know time is on my side.    I'm in Elkhart Lake this weekend for the vintage races.   One of the Gurney AAR Cudas is running and I am hoping to get some  shots of it on track.    Rained most of the day yesterday, so hopefully today is better.

I  have a untouch    unrestored orginal Daytona.   3-- daytona

Cool - Anyway you can have a look at the bottom of the mat? I know it's tough with the braces.

Thanks  John - Any part number, date ink stamps?

Davtona

The mat in my Daytona is the original. However it has a few rips and tears. Maybe pieces also.  :brickwall:  Its definitely seen better days anyways. But I would agree it is rough on the back side. Not smooth or any pebbly pattern on it. I"m not seeing a ink stamp with a quick inspection. Where at in the trunk have you seen them. I don't have the whole mat out of the car.

maxwellwedge

Thanks for checking! If there are numbers ink stamped they have a repeat pattern so you should be able to see them every few feet. I am starting to think they weren't stamped like the other cars. Of course this would also be true of Chargers, seeing that Daytona's started off as R/T's. I see no reason why a Daytona would have a special mat. Anyone with a 69 Charger or 500 have original mats?

johntpr

Jim..I just have scraps of my original that I saved....my original was all torn up....not enought to see if there was any ink stamps

69_500

Hey, I'll look at some of the pics me and Gene took of a white Daytona a few years ago. I am pretty sure it had the original mat in it at the time, and I remember looking for numbers on it as well as the weather strip for the trunk.

69_500

Pictures of the mat didn't turn out so well after looking for them. I have some of an unrestored C500 though I'll see if I can find them. If not both cars are only about a 3 hour drive away (although in opposite directions) and could go back and look at both again. I know I wouldn't mind, but my wife might.
