Here is my current Charger build.  From junkyard since the 80's.  A long ways to go, but I believe I have everything.  It will get the full C500 treatment, 400 4spd and a nod to Stock Car racing of the day (with some liberties)Charger and Rat 2.jpg

Sorry, pic makes it look even worse, but trying to crop and resize enough to make it post at all.

Looking good! How long ago did you purchase it?

Just like my fiberglass six pack hood, I like the flexibility of being able to swap out some things on my Charger when I feel like it.  Since converting my car to a 4 speed I could not decide if I wanted the 1969 Hurst dog leg handle or the 1970 pistol grip handle so I ended up just getting both.

Every couple of years I change it out and now I am wanting the dog leg style again. It takes about 30 min to swap everything out, I have separate upper boots that I leave on the handles so there is no damage from having to switch them back and forth.

The handle I am not using sits on the wall next to the other hood until I want to switch them out again. shifterx1.jpgshifterx3.jpgshifterx2.jpgshifterx4.jpg

Years ago a friend had a 68 Coronet R/T. We wondered why there was a dent in the dash trim until he rammed it into 3rd power shifting. He split his knuckle open punching the dash while holding the ball shifter. 3rd gear you hold the stick not the ball... :eek2:

Ha! I can definitely see that, more with the pistol grip vs the ball. I installed a new style Hurst mechanism with the adjustable stops, my hand stays nice and clear from the dash even with the most angry shifts!!  :Twocents:

It is with great sadness (and a touch of guilt) that I must announce the time has come to part ways with my 1970 Charger. This beauty has been sitting under a cover for the last few years, getting less exercise than a treadmill in January. On average, I've driven it about 150 miles a year—which, for a car like this, is basically a crime against Mopar.
At the heart of this masterpiece lies an Indy Aluminum Block 572 HEMI, crowned with dual quad throttle bodies that deliver breathtaking power with razor-sharp precision. Power is channeled through a bulletproof 6-speed Tranzilla transmission—complete with the legendary pistol-grip shifter—into a Moser Dana 60 rear, creating an unstoppable drivetrain that is nothing short of mechanical artistry at its finest.
This car is currently being auctioned off LIVE on Bring A Trailer. Please feel free to share with anyone who might be interested and have them reach out to me directly.
