A buddy of mine was telling me this afternoon about a 69 Charger we saw at a show years ago that he says was a wing clone where it had a Daytona wing on a 69 Charger with a Superbird front clip on it.  I honestly don't remember ever seeing the car but he insists we did about twenty years ago.  He wanted to know what show it was, I'd just like to know what car it was.  Does anyone remember such a beast?

if it existed it must have looked like hell--what would have lined up?

You got me.  :shruggy:  It obviously didn't make enough impression in my mind one way or the other.

Actually, it wouldn't take that much work to make the bottom of the fenders behind the wheel fit to a Charger door. The rest is basically the same a a 70 Charger.

That being said, I don't know why anyone would want to do such a thing.

when I was wingcar shopping around 1986 I found a white superbird that had a daytona nose on it.

I did not take a camera so I dont have pics but I clearly remember explaining to my pop and my buddy that something is funny about the car because superbirds have the grill vent under the point of the nose not in the middle of it.

any PA guys from Bensalem area have any recollection of a white bird with no decals, 44-4 auto car.
wingless now, but still around.

I called my buddy again today to ask what he recalled about the car.  He said it was unquestionably a 69 Charger with a Daytona wing and a Superbird front end on it.  He couldn't remember a color but I still think he's confusing it with something else.

Actually, a Superbird nose will mount to the front fenders of a 70 Charger very nicely.   After I removed the front bumper from my Charger I mounted the Superbird nose I have on the front, just to see how it would look...other than the center peak not matching the Chargers hood...it actually looks pretty good.  I guess you could mount the entire front clip...but why when all you have to do is mount the nose?  It would give a Daytona the same look as the "Top-less" Charger from the early 70's.  Haven't seem anyone do it, but it would be interesting for a custom Daytona......              :buff:

Yeah but it still could be the one my buddy is thinking of.  I really can't say it's ringing any bells with me yet.  I'll have to get him to look at that pic and see if he thinks it's the one he's talking about.
Where'd the pic come from?

That daytona clone is Bill Laurents which I recall is a 70 charger with handmade parts
