That's the B5 I was going for, knew about this car for about a year now for sale..... Looks like I'll be keeping my V2 for now unless the F6 pans out..... Doesn't have the "SE" stuff in it anymore. The dash has been updated with the proper black pebble bezels...

It's been in Oklahoma for sale now for several years, and neither of the two names mentioned above is the current owner (or owner's agent either).  You're right though, it has gotten around.

I would keep your car instead but that is just my opinion.  I would rather have your color car with a slush box over that blue interior with a 4 banger.  :Twocents:

Hey Paul...
Thanks.... as I improve mine, it makes it harder to want to let it go.... THE ONLY thing I don't like about the car in its present form is the 4.10's..... Being that Houston's so big and going from one car event to another here is a major pain at only 60 mph..... Being that she's an original A32 4.10 Dana car, I find it hard to replace the 4.10's with 3.54's... I'll just bite the bullet one day and get a GearVendor unit for it........

Troy -
If you're gonna keep it for a good long time, throw an 8 3/4 in it for now and swap the gears as you please.
Mine's also an original A32 4.10 Dana car, but thankfully it has had an 8 3/4 since at least 1980, although it had 3.23 gears in it when I got it, I put in a set of 3.55's and she is happy goin' down the road.

Hey Troy,

Interesting info on the 3.54s versus 4.10s; mine's an A34 car with the original 4.10s swapped out for 3.54 gears long ago by a previous owner.  I've been really happy with how the car runs & performs over the years, but I've toyed with the idea of putting 4.10s back in it just to see what it was like.

I can say this about the 3.54s, with that 440/4 speed, the car is a blast to drive at highway speeds, and still gets sideways for as long as you want out of the hole.  The 440 is stock except for electronic ignition.

Highway acceleration from 70, 80, or whatever, is so strong I don't usually even downshift.

Since the 440 redline is only like 5200RPM, I've been concerned the 4.10s won't work well with the power band/RPMs out on the highway.

What's your experience been with the 4.10s?

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Mike..
I'm sure you remember my previous C500 - Dana I called her ( the T7 one on ebay right now). I was SPOILED with Dana.. With that 4-speed and 3.54 Dana rear gear, it was great on the highway and yes, NO PROBLEM getting her sideways from a dead stop....... Oh the fun.

Now, I've experienced them all; 2.76, 3.23, 3.55, 3.54, 3.91 and now 4.10's........ The 4.10's are a blast cruising around town and all. Great fun on the low-end.. BUT, and a big BUT, for me anyways, is the highway driving............ As long as I'm not in a hurry or feel rushed, it''s ok at best for me... I would MUCH rather have the 3.54's...... I prefer the cruising aspect of driving at RPM ranges of 2800-3200, not higher....... Now, I have a friend with a '71 Charger R/T with 3.91's and a GearVendor and loves it all the way around.

That's what's kept me from making the swap so far, but it does not seem right to have a Super Trak Pack car and not get the entire experience!

gtx6970

This is the car a friend of mine tried to buy when it was still in the original owners possesion here in town. Found stuck in a dark nasty old garage for years with no engine in it.The lady was a bit off her kilter , one day it was for sale , next day it wasn't. after going back and forth he finaly gave up and walked away. We saw it at Carlisle a couple years later all nice and shiney, and for sale again and a '''tad ''' higher price this time. would have been nice to keep it in town. If I had the coin to pull it off  I'd own it in a heartbeat and bring it back to town, and I don't even like 4 speed cars

Troy, a 3.54 is just a phone call and a days work away, IF you ever got rid of the car just swap the 4.10's back in and keep the 3.54

IMO adding some monstrosity on the back of the trans in an original Daytona would take away the appeal big time

Probably same B5 car I looked at at carlisle

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,61053.0.html

I don't think so Dave.. This car on ebay now was in "SE" garb for the longest time. Recently the "SE" script on the roof was replaced with proper "Charger" script and the woodgrain dash was removed inlew of the proper standard black bezels. There are a lot of "SE" stuff that apparently got put on it, like the 6-way seats, power windows and the such..

Bill,
I wish it was only a phone call and a day's work away... But, with a Dana rear, for me anyways, I'd have to take her locally to a shop who specializes in HD 4x4 equipment. They rebuilt the A-833 in Dana, my former C500. Now, if my Daytona was a 8.75 rear car, that's a different story, I'd have it swapped out in a heartbeat.......

wow i just saw this car on ebay(for sale again) and i knew there would be a post here about it. They seem to be coming down slowly. $135k for a 4 speed car is really not too bad.  I love the blue on blue, and 4 speed.. mmmmm.. Troy i wish you could get yours sold so you could finally get your dream wish! It will happen, keep the faith.

I pulled the 4:10 out of my car and put in 3:23's.  I have no problem spinning the tires with my 727 and points.  I wish they were even lower to be honest.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
