Yes I will use that pully. I have been waiting a long time for the crank pully to come in. I was told another week. Will there be any problem with finding the right belt size. Is a 69 upper pully smaller and why? Rob

Jim and/or someone please correct me. But, if you use the proper style of crank pulley for a '69 and mix it with a '68 and earlier water pump, you'll run into problems? I think the ratios between OEM pulley pairs are important. I know the water pump pulley on the '69 and laters are much smaller in diameter than the earlier ones, which are basically your big block non-a/c pulley for years '66-'71 (at least).

I went to Legendary Motor Car in Milton today to take some pictures of their Daytona for referance. Beside was a sweet 69 Hemi Road Runner rag top and yes it had the smaller pully. Does that mean I need the smaller one to. I will leave it up to you professionals. Thanks Rob.

GOOD MEMORY.  WELL HE WILL FIND OUT REAL QUICK IF IT STARTS TO OVERHEAT  IT WILL BE THE BOTTOM CRANK PULLY THAT IS TOO SMALL. IT DROVE ME NUTS!  NOW  IF IT OVERHEATS AT IDLE  AND COOLS DOWN   WHILE ON THE ROAD  THEN YOU KNOW  THATS THE CULPRIT.

... and the Daytona is Dave B's former car - 410772.  It's there on consignment, and it is not the best car to use for reference.  While it looks great, a lot of details were changed.  Rob, take Jim/maxwellwedge up on his offer to look at the cars he can show you.  You won't regret the time spent...

Before the 22K mile old unrestored assembly line factory correct car was restored it was good source of info I and others compiled from.There only original once document and take pictures. Another good reference car the other Jims daytona

Here is a description I saved on the Disco daytona
1969 Dodge Charger Daytona - Hemi orange - 16,721 original miles, 440 automatic council 410 dana - special ordered. This car was found from the original owner who owned it for 36 years since new. He drove it up until 1972 and was registered until 1979 but was not driven after 1972. The car seems to be 100% original the way it came down the assembly line, other then the customized paint job. The original owner had the nose and fender scoops molded to the fenders. This would not take much to put back to original. Also, he changed the intake and exhaust system. It still has the original rare scissors jack and crank handle. The original rims were changed back in 1971 and has a custom wheels from that err. Upon delivery to the original owner he had a dealer installed AM 8-track player (still works great!) Also, added adjustable air shocks - this is the knob located just under the dash. I have checked the engine and talked to the original owner he claims this is the original motor - I believe this is a replacement warrenty block when the car was new. The date casting on the motor is Jan. 16, 1969. This car has disc brakes and does run - we did fire it. Have not attempted to clean fuel system. We have been under this car, inside and out and cannot find any rot anywhere. This is a true time capsule find. This does have a very cool, period dated paint job - this has a red metalflake paint job with pearl white stripes and the rear end has been painted gold with candy apple red fogged into it from the front. We do have the original window sticker and will list a picture shortly. Also, the original seats were changed in 1970, front and rear seats were put into storage and are in excellent condition. Also, he changed the center council to a 1966 Dodge Charger council. He also changed the mirrors to 1970 Charger style. Owner wanted high back buckets and racing mirrors - which were not available until 1970. This comes with the original intake - he took it off when the car was new - unfortunately, he did not save the exhaust manifolds or the original rims - but both items are readily available. There are not many of these left or available XX29L9B356532

Kingston ON. The very first Dodge Daytona ever shipped from Detroit back in 1969 is going up for auction on October 4th, 2008 in a small city in Ontario, Canada. The one-owner car was purchased new off the Kingston Dodge lot by Dr. John Chesbrough in 1970. Apparently, the car had been on display at the 1969 auto show and the Kingston Ontario car dealer convinced Dodge to give him the car for his lot.

Chesbrough has driven this car only 34,000 miles and it is in original condition except for a factory warranty repaint in 1971. One of the interesting features of the car is the dealer installed six-pack and finned valve covers. "That was how I purchased it." says Chesbrough, "I imagine they put those items on to make it more saleable - they tried almost everything to get it off the lot."

Long time no posts. Been busy enjoying the great summer weather we had. (Best in years) Now that fall is here back to business. Got the power windows in and working,  A total nightmere since it was all in a box when I got the car. I am starting on the console right now. Just painted the upper door pads turned out great. I also finally fired up the Hemi, sounds sweet. I learned a lot the hard way since this is my first Hemi. (pullys, p.steering pump, wiring harness manifolds etc.) I degreased and pressure washed the seat belts and they actually came out not bad considering what they looked like before(Will post after pics later).I also need to find a Hemi brake booster and lift bracket to complete the brakes. When I installed my nose on the Superbird I had the rad out to help with install of the rubber deflecters in the nose cone, made it easier. Will I have to drop the rad on The Daytona to reach in the nose cone or can you complete the install from the front and under side. I will try to get some more recent pics. posted soon. Rob.
