It was at Carlisle in 08. Nice car with a great story. I remember seeing that car in probably the early 90's in one of the Mopar mags.I didnt take a picture of the data plate and don't remember if it was there or looked like that.

bill440rt

Tan Top, I remember that article also.
Can't say for certain that is the exact same car, maybe our all-helpful Just6T9 of the infamous '69 Registry has more numbers info on this car?  :scratchchin:

The tag does look crisp, obviously painted the wrong color, but check out the "bend" in the upper left corner. That is a sign of an original tag.
Seller claims "no rust, no body damage", but the rad support shows signs of a previous crunch. Also, wiring harness tabs are missing on the trunk floor extension, and the seam sealer on them does not look factory to me. Hard to tell, but it also looks like there is no sound deadener on the inside on the 1/4's?  :scope:

All in all, looks like a pretty nice car, and if it's the one from the article it has an interesting history.

y3, I'm not sure that is the same car.  :scratchchin:
I spy the following differences on the Carlisle car:  :scope:
1) Deluxe bumper guards
2) Blackout on the rad support
3) Air cleaner decal in a different spot
4) Mud flaps on the fenders
5) Grille "appears" to be a darker shade
6) 3-speed wiper motor vs 2-speed
7) Body color hood hinges vs black
8) No orange box on firewall
9) Chrome breather vs black

Hmmm... any others??  :shruggy:

Hmmmm I talked to the owner at Carlisle. He had the article from I think Mopar muscle with the car. I believe he was the son of the original owner. Even showed me a spot near the grill support where the tape went over the inner fender and left silver behind. Hmmm

Belgium R/T -68

Isn't it a beautiful colour? :smilielol:

I see now..I should have read the Ebay ad more instead of just looking at the pictures! The way the first post went I thought that was the claim in the ad. The one from Carlisle is the one that was dealer painted in Az when new. Look at the original color combo from the Ebay ad. A4 silver CRG green interior stripe delete with a V1W White vinal top? Silver green and white? Yikes I'm not liking that freshly stamped data plate at all.

Black Charger

I had exactly the Sublime Charger in the pics at Carlisle (I used to read Mopar Muscle years ago) in mind when I posted in the "dream Charger" thread.

Blakcharger440

For some reason that tag looks too clean and bare like its missing something.  :scratchchin:

I know that for 1970 Chargers built in St.Louis most had indentations on them and alot had
cutouts of the letter "K" on the tag as well?

Did they do this for 1969 Chargers as well or was it dependent upon the location of the factory?
I am not sure where the 69's were built.

richRTSE

Personally, I'm not a big fan of high impact colors on '69s. They look good on '70s though.  :shruggy: I do think that car would look great in the original A4 silver with a white top... I don't think I've ever seen one in that combo before. :scratchchin:

Ghoste

That's Tim Winnie's car then.  I have to say I'm surprised he's selling it.

:scratchchin:  sure Chris of Jst69 will prolly have the vin :popcrn:

Ghoste

I have a pic of Winnie's tag somewhere but it's from my pre digital pics so finding it would be a chore unto itself.   I have LOTS of pics of the car too though and I'm pretty sure I can lay my hands on those a lot easier.  There were some other lookalikes that came along but Winnie's car is definitely the one that was painted at the dealer in 1970.

The Magazine your talking about is "Muscle cars of the 60's and 70's". I remember this article well, its most likely the same car. The was a feature on a Boss 429 and a 454 chevelle ss in the mag as well.
b7 1969 Charger 4 speed 440 4:10

Ghoste

That one too but I recall the car being featured in several magazines over the years.  It's somewhat famous.  In fact one of the times I last spent any time talking to Tim he had just gotten a 1/64 diecast of the car from whoever it was that made it.  Can't remember who, Johnny Lightning maybe?

Yep that is it. I still have that issue somewhere. I have a few years worth of them. Was a pretty good mag. Seem to even all the makes out and had some oddball cars.

gasoline_24

The tag does look crisp, but if you look closely at the top left-hand corner there appears to be some pitting in the middle. I think because it is painted the flat black it looks more like a re-pop. Just my :Twocents:
