How does this switch come out? It appears like a special tool is needed to remove the retaining nut. Is it true that this ignition switch is a '69 only item? does anyone reproduce these?
I have no key for the ignition, can a locksmith make a key if he dissassebles the switch and checks out the pins?

The outer ring with the slots holds it to the dash. They are a 1 year only item. The switch is now being reproduced but I'm not sure about the lock cylinder. Yes, a locksmith can re-key the lock or make a key that works with the one you have.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I have unscrewed the ring with needle nose pliers.
Just be careful not to let them slip.

Once it's out of the dash, there's a spring loaded pin to push in.Use the key to help slide the cylinder out of the housing.

How do you get the cylinder out if you have no key?

It will still come out the same way.
Just using a key makes it easier.
Does not have to be the right key.
