I was going to let this one rest but the guy just emailed me back on a question about his posting that I'll get to in a moment.  So here is his listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HERE-One-You-Have-Been-Looking-For-/280556482530?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4152782fe2

That's right, one 1974 Charger 500 for sale for $62k.  Even though the last 500 was made in '71.  So here's my email to him:

Dear 58078nd,

How did you get your hands on a '74 Charger 500 when they stopped production of the 500 in 1971?

So he responds with this in size 48 font:

SERIAL NUMBER IS # WH23L4G231126  THIS IS A TWO DOOR HARDTOP.  NOT A SE.  PLEASE SEE ENTIRE LISTING INCLUDING FENDER TAG.

Wouldn't say anything about selling it as a Charger 500.

Also, in the description he said it had a full restoration...  "This car was taken down to the frame actually laying on the floor."  That's a pretty impressive with a unibody.

Apparently a $8k car with a $12k restoration gets you a $60k+ return

Silly brand X-ers. do some homework before you sell a MoPar!  :hah:

It's actually a pretty sharp looking car.  From the tag it looks to be a 360-4, 4 speed, rallye package, tips, buckets w/ console, in gold with a black canopy roof.  Overpriced and mis listed, but a sharp car.  I suspect it is a scammer using photos of someone else's restoration.  If some idiot is stupid enough to bid they deserve whats coming...

I don't think so.  He/she is also selling off some '74 interior pieces (of course mis-labled as the Charger 500).   Yes, I agree, well overpriced.

I believe it is a very nice looking '74.

Yes he took the 500 off.  But what about saying the "frame" was on the ground?  Not possible with a uni, right?  So I think he's purposely misrepresenting the true history of the car to jack up the price.

being 360, 4 speed and nice conditions I would say 15-18K... 360s 4 speeds are not that common

Very nice car. Easy $15,000 car if it's as good as it looks. I had a 74 SE Brougham with the same door pulls.

Seen real U-code 440s go for less than that lately. Autos.

Not being "common" (rare?) doesn't mean...
