Hello, can anyone tell me if the safety latch on a superbird is a "unique item" to these cars ???? or is a common Chrysler latch.... (charger etc.)

According to some paperwork I found, the 'Bird hood latch is part number 3508 578, which is the same as 1970 Plymouth B-bodies (in Group 15-11-3 of the '70-71 parts book).

I am no superbird expert by any means. But the picture of the latch does not look correct.  My pics show it to have a longer front handle so you dont have to reach as for with the hood extension. There was a thread on here I beleive it to be 1970 chrysler C body.  Can anybody please chime in that knows this better than I do. :shruggy:

Chrysler C body only.  Dodge and Plymouth C body is different.  Look for a New Yorker.

Beats me.

Greetings All,

I was parting out a 1970 New Yorker a few years back.  I sold the hood latch on ebay as a New Yorker/Superbird part.  If I can get photos to load, they will show that the parts are identical.  I took a couple of shots of the New Yorker latch next to the one on my Superbird.
