Will a 335-17 on an 11 inch wheel tuck in rear of 68 charger ?  Looks like there is about 13 inches clearance.  Thanks everyone !

General 68

Sorry, no. I run 28x12-15 on 10" rims with 5,5" backspace and xhd springs. Clearence to leaf springs is a tad over 3/8" only. It is a lot of space between the tires and the fender lips but the inner side of the outer fender has a bulge that will interfer with the tire when the sprins compress. On mine it barely clears and the 12 " tires should be almost the same with as 305 tires. If you want to jack up the rear of the car a lot, or cut out the bulge, you might get something bigger to work.

I got 315 30's on 18x10s and they fit but are rather tight in the stock wheel wells, may have to BFH em and cut the fender lip to get a 335 to fit in there

nice pics got any of the inside of the trunk? i want to do a tub on my 68 charger and am looking for ideas. did you just do a inward tub or did you cut out that little bit of a lip that comes out of the inner side of the outer fender to?

darrenb811

thanks, yes, I posted some pics of the tub work at:
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,76466.0.html

in short, we widened the tub inwards only, up to the frame rail (approx 3in.). no modifications to the quarter.
you have room for a 13in wheel/tire & leaf spring provided you relocate the spring using the MP kit.
I'll see if I can find my wheel back/front space dimensions I had them custom made from Budnik, however there's plenty of room in the wheel tub for the tyre (probably 1~1-/2in to spare). No rubbing throughout the entire range of travel.
We did this first (I subsequently decided to put the unlawfulracing 4-link rear setup in).
Tire clearance is more a concern with the leaf-springs or whatever setup you chose to run.
Hope this helps.!
cheers, Darren

What kind of shock are those and what kind of rear suspension are you running on that Dana 60?

the shocks are QA1 adjustable coil overs, they come with the rear suspension kit. The kit is manufactured by Unlawfulracing.
See full details of the kit at:  www.unlawfulracing.com

the Dana 60, is a Moser-60 package. I had a detroit locker 3.73:1 installed, and the housing ends are Ford 9" (as this open's up the brake options considerably). Steel 35 spline axles.
rear brakes are Wilwood 14.2" drilled/slotted/vented with 4-piston calipers & integral handbrake drum. Driveshaft is Mark Williams 1350 billet ea.end. T56 Magnum 6-speed behind a 525 EFI ProCharged Hemi (1,500hp ~ 1,100 ft/lbs).
the Dana & housing is OEM dimensions axle to axle.
