OK I really have to get my car done now!

It's been since 11/09 since I've driven it--that's probably the longest stretch I've gone since mom let me near the keys...

Now that's a cruiser !!!  Love the a/c.........

A/C, column auto, good color , and a no excuses driver...now thats MY kind of car.

I dont live in a high temp climate so I dont "need" the air and I really dislike the what it does to the interior.  :eek2:

As far as Bill's post......arent they all drivers? the day mine rolls out of my garage completed it becomes a driver. :yesnod:
wingless now, but still around.

I don't like the underside vent either. I would try and find a system that's totally under the dash....... If I was going to have a/c.....  But down here, it would be great to have.

That stinkin under dash unit is horrible in something like a classic/collector car I dont care if it was dealer installed and been in the car since the day it was sold.

This car is a nice one. I had the chance to drive it a few years ago. I think it was about 6 years ago now. It was then owned by a friend of mine who has a nice collection of cars. He let the car go to get a V-code Bird instead. Which he is enjoying much more than he did this one.

y3chargerrt

Thats 10 miles away from me. I should go and check it out.

WINGIN IT

The good for me :  Color ( my fav on Superbird) , the A/C , originality ( for the most part ) , well documented.
The bad for me :   column auto , the A/C - concerns the car is prone to overheating .

I don't mind the underdash A/C unit too much, while not asthetically pleasing , I like that it is period correct.

However, with 37K original miles,  most owners wouldn't drive it too much, as that is one if it's selling points and typically adds to the value .

I'd rather have a non-matching bench seat 4 speed in the same color though.

69_500

The mileage is the reason my buddy didn't hang on to the car very long. He wanted a Bird that he could just hop in and drive and not worry about so much. Which he is now enjoying the heck out of his 6-pac 4 speed Bird (thats not number matching).

Exactly.
So you drove it ? How was it?
You crank the A/C and stomp on it for some get up and NOT go ?  :icon_smile_big:

69_500

Yeah got to drive it out around the block (about 5 miles or so). It was a decent running car. I didn't stomp on it or anything just cruising. After we parked the Bird though he took me for a ride in his HEMI GTX and really got on it. But nothing spectacular in the bird. He does beat on the new Bird he has pretty good though.

I think it's kind of mandatory that if you have a car as ostentatious as a Superbird you're kind of obliged to get on it.
And there lies the issue with this car. Gorgeous lookin' car but not exactly the "stomping" type ...

And that's the very reason I put the GearVendor in my Daytona.. I LOATHED driving in the right lane as everyone and their mothers passed me either taking videos and/or pictures. "Look Mom, I'm passing a Daytona!"..

Now, people will see me in the rear view mirror and wonder, "What the heck is that?". Then, it'll be, "Wow !! What was that?!?..  :D

On the way to a race at Michigan International Speedway to do a parade lap back in the day I took my bird up to 150mph and had pedal left. At that speed my rear molding lifted off the car :( I went back and it was crushed. I told Richard Petty at the track what happened and he chuckled. Those were the days.

It was the window trim. Now after 28 years the molding still as far as I know never got replaced.

Just Curious, I'm about to put my limelight V code Column Auto w/ Buckets 52K miles on Ebay and I was surprised by how high this was bid to. what am I missing about this car that it was bid to 99K. Just seems to me that this is pretty long dollar for U code column car, definitely nice, low miles but still top dollar.  :shruggy: Thanks Greg

Greg..
Maybe since it's a turn-key......... It's all there it appears and, as some may not like it, the a/c's installed and ready to go. Also, I know plenty of people that actually like the column auto with bench. Those benches are quite comfortable... All it takes is one bid..............

Good luck on your v-code sale........... I"ll trade you a Joe-Dirt '69 Charger 500 for it......  :icon_smile_big:
