Hi

Is a 4 speed Superbird meant to have a under floor shifter boot?
There is so much heat from the exhaust coming up through the floor, i almost cannot touch the console.......its an oven in here!

If you have a console, then you should have the boot that's on the console and one that's on the floor pan.

OK, when you say floor pan boot, is this the one that hangs down from under the floor (shifter boot).

YEAR ONE sells the lower, I'm sure there are others, but it was the quickest one I could find. Apparently they have an ebay store now.. It will use trim ring # MM1101 from YEAR ONE. This attaches to the floor pan. The shifter handle comes through the hump like normal, slips through this boot and continues up through the console. Now the console has its own boot as well on the console top plate.

1970 B-body - under console and it's 100% original
And I'll be 100% honest. I'm not so sure which one it is. I don't think it's the one above because this one has no angle to it.

IMO, I think it's this one.

dont use the Year One boot for reference as the originals didnt have the rectangular opening for the shifter so who knows what else is incorrect.
wingless now, but still around.

That looks more "correct" Bill.. Where did you find that? One thing's for sure, whichever floor boot is used, it has to have a rectangular shaped opening, the round ones for '69 and earlier won't cut it..

now have fun killing the heat coming in through the steering column...

Nassau1969

I have the same problem massive heat coming up thru the floor board hole. I guess no one makes the correct replacement. I aways thought there had to be a secondary boot.  Need to find one that will withstand the heat. Anyone use anything else out there that works.
