Hi Everyone,
Happy to have finally started my project even though it looks like a rough ride ahead. I was wondering if anyone can help out by sending pictures of how the rear frame rails, cross members, rear spring mount and any other pictures that show the how the subframe is set up. My rear subframe has rotted out to the point where I don't know how everything is suppose to be. Any diagrams and dimensions would be awesome. Just take a look at the picture:

If anyone has lots of photos of their frame off restoration please send to my email: viroun.sengdara@sengdara.com

You probably have the only Charger in Laos. Where are you located, Vientiane?

Do you already have the service manual for the Charger? If not get it asap - you will need it! There's a body section in it.
Good luck with the restoration!

Will keep you guys posted on the restore.
There's actually a 69 Charger here in Vientiane, but is running a Toyota engine.

Is possible to buy a downloadable version of the service manual?
If not, suggestions where I should order?

twodko

Welcome to the site! That toyota powered Charger you mentioned :puke:........
I don't know if the FSM is downloadable. If you have the cash, buy the hardcopy FSM and the CD version to study before you hit the garage and get dirty. Good luck, more pix and please keep us in the loop Good luck.

@chargerst, have you been here before?

Yeah, I was in Laos for about 10 days and I spent two nights in Vientiane. Laos is such a beautiful country and people are soo friendly! Unfortunately I didn't see the 69 Charger when I was there.

vsengdara

Was it business or pleasure? How long ago? I've been in Laos for over 10 years now. Things are changing so fast.  There's traffic now!

Just vacation. Took a boat ride down to Luang Prabang. From there to Vang Vieng and continued to Vientiane. Not much traffic except around Vientiane. Saw people with AK 47s in a pick-up and on motorcycles on the way to Vang Vieng  ;)

Chargerst, hopefully my charger will be done the next your back.

Getting new sheet metal here is out of the question because of the air freight. Have to make due with zinc sheeting. Here's a taste of body work here in Laos.

vsengdara

Tantop,
I don't think the owner of the 69 charger knows how to turn on a computer. Lol. Will try to get photos of his ride soon. His charger might offend some folks here though. He has an imitation blower fastened to his hood. He gets credit for trying right? He knows the true power of American muscle.

vsengdara

Does anybody have a rear spring mount lying around ? Would really like to get complete measurements. Mine are rotted out to the point of no recognition. With the exact dimensions I could fabricate one from the sheet metal I have here.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to DC.Com Huge points for tackleing that '68!! Especially over there,.. wow!  :2thumbs:

Here are pictures of the 69 with a Toyota engine.

Interesting.....  :scratchchin:

The engine looks right at home although the combination is odd....

How did the Toyota engine end up in the Charger in the first place ?

Wouldn't ocean freight be a whole lot cheaper ?

vsengdara

That's what happens here when people don't have the means to order parts from the States.

ChargerST

Nice but please tell the owner to get rid of these wheels - they look fugly on a muscle car  :Twocents:
