ChargerD100

I just bought my dream car '69 Charger 2 weeks ago, after looking for one since I was 14, I'm 22 in 9 days. Looked at a few that were priced too high for their condition, and this was the first that I sat in and had that feeling that "This is gunna be my car" feeling. It's been sitting in a barn for 11 years the roof was vinyl but the owner BEFORE the person who I bought it from took it off and left it to rust. This last friday night we cut off the skin and put a donor skin on it that came with the car when I bought it. It's a factory 318 car but came with a 383 that runs, my plans are to build another 383 which I have sitting and add a blower and make a blown General Lee, been wanting to do a general like that since I was 17, I know there are alot of Generals. There are already 2 Generals in a 100 mile radius of where I live. One with a six pack scoop and there's another Show Car that has a Hemi and 2 air cleaners sticking out of the hood. Heres some pics so far. Will add more pics later this week

Outstanding!  I need to repair my roof....

Wow. I've never seen a roof get cut like that. :scratchchin:

Just what the world needs.... ANOTHER General Lee.
Come on, man.... REthink your plans. I grew up watching the show, and I LOVE those cars, but driving a General is comparable to a Star Trek fan walking around everyday wearing his star fleet uniform saying "Live long and prosper".

Welcome to the site and Congrats on finding your dream car. Don't let the General Lee haters scare you off. Keep the progress pics coming!  :2thumbs:
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Good find! FYI Sublime wasn't offered on '69 Charger's from the factory.

redmist

Where in Idaho???

I am in Boise if you need any help!
JUNKTRAVELER: all I've seen in this thread is a bunch of bullies and 3 guys that actually give a crap.

There are millions of enviro-greenies that would say equally negative things about driving a stock resto 1969 Charger.

"Just what the world needs: ANOTHER American driving a gas guzzling overpowered car.  I LOVE those cars too, but driving one of those things today is like pretending we aren't aware of the problems caused by fossil fuels and oil dependence.  Get with the times and leave those antiques for the museums where they belong."

Piston_Freddy

Watch Dirty Mary Crazy Larry and I'll bet you want to make a DMCL clone and not a stupid General Lee.
Max rim size:15"

Tilar

Shoulda got yourself a 68.   :stirthepot:

Whatever you do with it will be fine. If a General is what you want, go for it. You can always go back to the way it came from the factory if you want to.
Dave

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Well, if you do decide to turn it into a General Lee please at least make it correct....  :Twocents:

We took it farther to the edge with a cutting wheel we just cut it long like that with tin snips cuz it was done in our driveway at midnight

The general lee clone is just one of my ideas I have 5 paint ideas but the general With only one that keeps coming back to the top of the list. Im not doing the lee unless I can afford how I want it done. But I will keep you guys posted on what happens to it. Dmcl clone was a idea when I was 15 when I first saw the movie lol.

Just 6T9 CHGR

The brightest green for '69 was F6 Bright Green Metallic and it was a mid-year offered color.
Great find on your part!  Good luck with the resto

Looks nothing like Sublime though...

Here's a stunning example of the color

Just Googled F6 paint and that Daytona looks right in between what comes up as F6 and F8 :shruggy:

alright thank you I actually just found a decoder that works turns out the car was Y3 that cream color, and I see that color in spots where Ive sanded I think it may have been painted F6 at some point though theres seriously 3 or 4 different colors on this car, and sorry for getting my colors mixed Ive always called that "Slime green" color F6 by the name sublime for some reason.

Honestly, you've got a 69 Charger so that's the important part. I'm personally more turned off by junk sticking out of the hood than General Lee paint and decals (plus, it's cheaper and it sounds like you're on a budget). Have fun with it!

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Troy, I honestly felt the same way when I saw this one with 2 air cleaners sticking out of each side of the hood a few years ago, actually still do
