Thanks, but shouldn't there be a year designation?

The "4" in front of the "T" is the year designator for 1974.

I am not 100% but i think it stands for truck A friend of mine had something similar in his charger a few years ago

Definitely the "T" stands for Trenton Engine Plant, and not truck.

"For Engines made begining in 1974, the CID displacement will be prepended a "[ 4 .. 8 ]T-" Where 4T- means 1974, and 8T- mean 1978. The "T" indicates that it was made at the Trenton Plant (it does not mean truck). Quite often, these stamped IDs will be followed with an E indicating a cast crank."

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

Just to add to the other posts ; the 74 "t" motor will also have a cast crank...assuming it is all original.

The meaning of the "T" depends on where it is in the number, a T after the year and before the displacement means Trenton but a T after the displacement means truck.

Example, 4T440T
