Seems like I spoke too soon.   :-\

Bit the bullet & ordered up a set of the reproduction dog dish caps for my new steel wheels going on.
Ordered them from Year One....believe it or not they were the cheapest with the 20% off code I had.

Took about a week to get them.  Got them today & opened the box & found them nicely individually wrapped in bubble wrap & tissue paper.

Took out the first one & I was amazed!  A nearly perfect SS reproduction piece! Dull stainless on the backside like he originals.  Felt exactly as heavy as the originals.  A very well made part.   Ahh I was happy  :2thumbs:

Until I decided to "check the rest of them"

Second one I unwrapped was just as nice....got to the third one & I was like WTF?!?!  Right away you can see the backside was shiny....I unwrapped it & it felt like PLASTIC!  WAAAY  lighter than the other 3 & even shinier then them as well.  Fratzog looks different as well....what the heck is this bastard cap I got???!?!?

Of course YO is closed when i got home....I hope they make this right!!!

Crappy cap is on the left in the pics

Uh....  oh..........  :flame:

Looks like YO is getting them from two different suppliers then?? How will they know which "right" cap to send you in return?

According to someone on Moparts, BE/A is supposedly the only supplier.  They probably had a different batch made up.  YO is just the middle man.  They had to order these from BE/A (thats why it took a week or so to get them)
Funny how they try & slip one of these bastard caps in with a set of 4 like no one would notice.

I just hope YO does the right thing by me.

Anyone else that ordered the repro caps get a bad one?

:o :icon_smile_blackeye:  oh no !!

thats sneeky if they are slipping an odd one in a set now & again to get rid of them , would of been better off , making up complete sets with the thinner  fratzog :shruggy:

Thats EXACTLY what I have.....WTF?!?!?

With BE/A I wouldnt be surprised if this was a way Mike has of "getting rid" of a bad batch....  :rotz:

You would think they would just keep similar looking caps together and not throw in the odd ball, even if they are trying to get rid of old stock.

These are probably coming out of China so I wouldn't be surprised if BE/A or YO are not aware of the issue.

Do they come packaged as a set of 4 in a box?

Just 6T9 CHGR

They are individually wrapped in paper & bubble wrap & then stacked together.....so I guess in their defense they might not know which one is which :shruggy:

Probably made out of a different mold they should give the bad mold the flick and make them all the same. This is typical of repro stuff no quality control why cant the suppliers who get repro parts made up get them looked at and tried out first by people in the hobby who know there stuff.
Well i always thought the overseas buyers got the rubbish as its a hassle and big cost in shipping stuff back.

Wow that sucks Chris.  Hope they do right by you.  Would suck to know that you have one odd ball cap on your car.  Just for arguements sake...if Chrysler were to have two suppliers for these hub caps, what could the odds be that this could have been like this from the factory also?

:o  Wow, surprised you made that comment?  That's the exact problem I had with parts I ordered from him.  :'(

I'm sure Year One will take the one back, or the whole set.  They have great low shipping rates too.  ::)

it happens when you start running out of things to do.  An idle mind is like idle hands..... it never leads to anything good.  Only trouble, and a big hole in your wallet!   :smilielol:

Well on a good note Year One made good on their word of sending me another set.

"Tyler" promised me this set would be "inspected" by hand for a matching set before going out.....NOT.

Opened the box & exactly like the first set, the third cap down was the bastard cap....again!!!

Long story short, I took one of the SS ones out of the new set & sent back the 2 crappy aluminum ones along with the other 2 SS ones.

I now have a full set of SS caps....all is right with the world.

Sent Mike from BE/A a PM on Moparts about the YO replacement set being the same....read it & never replied.  Didnt think he would :rotz:
