The muriatic acid works great but you have to be carefull with that stuff...
I got Top Dollar for those fenders because of the acid treatment.. They just look great in pics

It seems to me that vinagar would take a year and a day.  Kind of like trying to clean a penny with Coke

I use muratic acid all the time on small parts. You have to be very careful that you don't let it sit very long in it and use a coverd plastic container. Never leave it in over 24 hrs. It will eat away metal after it eats the rust. Be very careful handeling it also. Its not good to get in your eyes. You will know really fast if you get it on your skin also.

sand blasting cabinets seem to work pretty good on the small stuff, gets em clean and no chemicals to mess with.
