Hi

Thought I would share some photos of the 2 New Zealand red Birds meeting for the first time.
We arranged them to meet at a car show in a small town, Cromwell, South Island, New Zealand.
There was over 650 cars, along with hot sunny day.
Mine on the left.

Wife and son, doing what they do best.

WOW, being asked for a Mustang photo on a Mopar site  :o
I didn't take any photos of the Cobra Jet @ the Car Show.
So I don't get too much grief over this, I will post one with a Mopar in the background  ::)

while the mustang doesn't have 1/10th of the bird's WOW factor, it is indeed a sharp looking and desirable car. as much as i hate the thought, the ford might be the fastest car in the photo.

My 2 cents
(all 4 speeds)

The 428 Cobra Jet is stock with a big cam only and it is very quick.
It would leave the Boss 429 sitting there, however once the Boss 429 engine opens up it goes mental and would be faster past 60mph (approx). The torque of the Boss9 is impressive!
The 440/6 is more consistant and has a higher top end than the CJ and Boss9

1/4 mile the CJ would leave the others behind.
3/4 mile the Boss 429 would take over, however the Superbird would be sitting just behind and take over from here on in etc
My 390GT Cyclone would still be at the start line

Some nice looking cars you have there!  :drool5:  I noticed the license plate on the Mustang says "1 OF 1"....just wondering what kind of options are on that car?

1 OF 1 , nothing too special, however its the main reason I purchased this car.
Its the only Cobra Jet, in this colour with the optioned white shaker and striping (these are usually black).
The orange with white is a great combo, same with the Superbird. Makes them "pop".

Total of 135 1970 Mustangs with the white shaker option (approx).
2500 1970 Cobra Jets made.

I got this plate simply because I could believe it was available and its a great talking point, as to the 6PK4SP plate.

Was wondering if the white stripes were add ons or stock. Never seen one with white, I really like it  :2thumbs:
White interior would make it even better, assuming they offered it.

Really nice cars you have and nice to see the two birds together. Your Mustang is really sharp with the white strips. Great pics!

Yes, that is the rumor.
The Purchaser (Rob) also owns a very nice Dan Gurney Telledaga and a Cale Yarborough Mercury Cyclone. I have seen photos of these cars and they are very nice!
These cars are still in the USA, where he "works"? I guess he is coming home?

My 68 was around around 3k USD from Perris CA to here, plus customs charges, taxes and unloading etc another nearly 4kNZD, but if you're planning a trip and returning then likely you would get a refund on the part of the taxes as you would be taking the car back out again . Possibly a carne type bond is required to ensure the car is not sold whilst here. I know USA charges a bond on incoming vistor car/bikes

What a great idea
It costs approx $2500NZ ($2000US) to ship a car to NZ, plus approx $1000-$1500 port/customs and MAF charges.
So not expensive at all and a country worth visiting http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=PKgnB29BBLE&feature=endscreen

I hope it would be easier for someone coming to NZ to get insurance for their car than it is for a non US resident to get insurance over there!
I could only find one company in the 'States that would give me the mileage allowance to attend the reunion in 2009.

looks like they're different cars. the Best of Show one has a rear wing and louvres, although both items could have been removed. is the interior the same color? it's hard to tell from the photo.

Hi

I purchased the CJ from Chicago early last year.
The car in the link is the other car, however with red interior and I beleive there is one with white interior (just the 3?) etc. I believe this car with red interior in now in Australia.

Lets not forget, as per my previous post, I purchased  "1 OF 1" plate as I could not believe it was available, and yes the Mustang is 1 OF 1 with my options. Nothing too rare, but special in the Mustang world.

Thanks
