I am a little confused. I thought 69 Charger 500 VIN #'s started with XX ???

This one on ebay has two VINs on with XX on one report XS on another report and XS on the fender tag (the XS fender tag does show it is a Hemi car)

Nice looking car though

There are more than a few threads on this subject. Some early 500's got the "XS" instead of the "XX", and a mixture between the car and paperwork is common on these cars. All legit and fully documented.

Yeap, the title on my 1st '69 Charger 500 had XS instead of XX.... But, the tag and VIN were both XX..... As noted, there are quite a few XS29 VIN designated C500's out there... Typically though, the fender tag should still have A11....

Not sure about a 4-speed, but this other blue one was in ohio for awhile, owned by a friend of mine, Pete S. a few yrs back, an automatic car....vin 224401...sold at Mecum last January...

Thanks for the link.
Both cars seem closely optioned the same.  Hemi Blue on blue autos with non matching Hemis.
The one at Mecum had a buildsheet, and this one does not have #'s matching tranny but other than that seem identical.

Wonder if current Ebay owner is looking to get same money for it.

Shouldn't the seats have headrests?
Weren't they mandatory 1/1/69?

Sure, but C500's were built in '68 and, IIRC, all were finished before Dec.31st, 1968................

I was thinking that on the ride home tonight.

So then as a follow up question, do ALL 69 C-500s NOT have headrests, unless specifically ordered with them?

I personally think it's a case of which base R/T they grabbed and whether or not it already had the "optional" headrests at the time. Both my C500's have them....
