has anyone seen this stripe on another charger

http://photobucket.com/albums/f17/konigcharger/charger%20pics/

http://www.scatpack.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28050

the owner said it was original

the original invoice from Husker Dodge in Omaha Nebraska says side paint stripe

I don't think the car has ever been painted and there is no sign of a pinstripe

the car is a 1973 SE with the rallye pack option

the stripe is not the same as the rallye chargers

Looks like the 73-74 Charger Ralley stripe.  ;D

Yep that is the correct Rallye stripe for that year.

694spdRT

You could get a Rallye stripe on a SE Charger. That does not look like a factory stripe though. It should not extend the whole length of the car like that and they were not painted. I am trying to buy a '74 SE with a V6R reflective stripe and it is on the fender tag. If it truly is original I would guess the dealer had it done. What does your fender tag say?  Also, the SE was really never available with a Rallye package as you would need the bulge hood to have the entire package. However, owners could option out most everything else individually that the Rallye option had.

Here is a picture of a '73 Charger Rallye V6R stripe that was reproduced off of the original. They were available in black and white for solid colors and then several different reflective versions.

haven't had the fender tag decoded only what the invoice says

this stripe is higher than the rallye stripe and runs the whole length of the car

talked to a guy at a car show said he ordered a charger with this stripe

Do you have any bigger pictures that you can post? If you post the fender tag options someone here can help you out. I am not saying it couldn't have happened because Chysler did some different things, it just seems a little odd.

That car was on ebay about a year and a half...

I don't know why pics don't came out on a large size in my PC but definitelly they are not original from fact. They are BAD PLACED, above the sidemarkers isntead on level...

I will give more opinions when I have a better view

original stripes are:
1-fender section is two parts becsue wheel opening cut is in the middle

The Ghoul

may not be orrigional but it looks great. I think for the placement the length is just right. if it were lower I would say a full strip would look goofy.. I like it alot!!

Nacho-RT74

I'm not saying bad looking, just bad placed ;)

good or bad looking is just opinion of everyone.

In my mopar parts catalog appears only 4 stripes options:
Black
Copper.
Gold.
Red.

three last ones are the reflective phasered ones as far I know. Only really sure on red one because I have a NOS set... oh, half of set.

I thought they had white ones too? Maybe the ones I have seen are aftermarket.

i really don't know, all i know now is that i like it and whoever put it on the car put some serious time into it i mean the gapping is perfect all the way down both sides and what the invoice (which i will post later)says.    ma mopar made a lot of cars that there may be only one or two like it thats why i asked about it i guess until I see another charger with the exact same stripe on another car i will not know for sure. :scope: i know it would not be in a parts catalog because like i said it is PAINTED on.

I am definitely sure i'm gonna keep it when i get it repainted because it looks sharp and in my opinion the rallye stripe is to low and i don't like how it is cut by the wheels ???

if any one would  like to add this stripe to there car i will gladly help as much as i can

The 28 should be for a 28" radiator. You have a very late build date on that car....probably the last week of production for 1973.

Perhaps someone has a picture of the V7W stripe on a 1973 Charger they can post for comparison.

accent stripes are just a thin line that runs all along the upper body line, not that one...

JimsSE

konigcharger;

Here's a picture of my unrestored '73 SE with the White Factory Paint Stripe - V7W.  Mine kindof has a "strobe" effect because it's 33 years old.  Should probably be a solid paint line but looks like the paint roller they used had more paint on one side of the wheel than the other.

Anyhow, unless you are sure your car has never been painted, I would say this would have been the factory stripe.  Who know's for sure...

Just a couple of points on your fender tag:

D41 is probably B41 - Power front disc brakes

C11 is probably G11 - Tinted glass, all windows

G35 on 1973's is Chrome left ouside racing-style mirror

Your seat code for an SE is probably H6F6 - High, vinyl buckets, green

The V7W is definitely for the body side accent paint stripe (in white) shown in JimsSE's picture.  Had the paint stripe been deleted the code would be V78.

konigcharger

thanks guys good to know for sure still gonna keep the stripe it was pretty dark when i got out to the car so i'm pretty confident a couple are gonna be off (i did it by flashlight) i still like the stripe still dont think the car was painted must be wrong anyway will  continue to post  :icon_smile_big:

Dodge-Charger

The stipe looks good but it looks to be too long, and a bit too high up on the car. All of the ones I have seen wrap around the turn signals.

It looks good with that color , how much more do you have to do with the car to be complete?

konigcharger

Honestly right now i've stopped any real work on the car the car still needs:

some body work, repainted / restriped, new headliner some interior work (mostly finished that last year), it runs good but it needs front end rebuilt (new suspension) and all the little things

other than that i'm thinking about doing some engine work maybe a stroker kit? six pack? don't really know i have plenty of time i'm only 20

allready replaced: rallye dash (added 150 speedo and tac), put all new lower door panels in it new steering wheel, have a new dash pad, re painted grills, swapped taillights for  a set of '71 R/T's, well i could go on but thats the major stuff the plan this spring is to just drive and enjoy it maybe do some work later in the year :icon_smile_big:
