C500 project on CL

I spoke with the owner a couple times as I've always wanted a C500. I decided to finish my 70 R/T and either sell it and buy a done C500, or pay more $$ for a solid project with paperwork.

Quick rundown of what I was told. No fender tag or b/s. R4 red with black interior, buckets w/ console. Comes with a 69 engine date correct, but not the #'s motor. Thinking of it now without a tag or b/s how could you know the build date ? The rear window and trim are gone. One quarter has been cut off along with the tail panel.

Seller said the frame rails, floors are solid. I received some other pics, but you can't tell much the parts are piled to the roof inside. Under the hood has been painted black. I asked the condition of the rear plug, but seller was not sure.

Thought I'd pass on the info if anyone here might be interested.

Wow.. not that bad considering.... Maybe he'll come down in price... But man, if all that stuff is missing and it's been in storage since '74, it had a rough early life.... Thanks for the post...  :2thumbs:

I was thinking 15k but the 1/4 shot scared me. Looks like its been ripped off with an air chissel and took 1/2 the inner with it. The tail panel is gone too. Didn't see a shot of the backend, but it looks cut pretty high. I fear for the plug. Not sure if it was hit in the back corner or what.

Didn't that F8 C500 on here sell for around 20K and it was complete w/tag and a real solid body ? Price is not bad, but think I'd prefer shelling out extra $$ for a more complete car with paperwork.

He certainly didn't put too much effort into trying to sell it.

Yup thats what I thought. At first i thought it was a spoof and someone had pics of Moparstuarts car as they are both grey primer and Moparstuarts is R4 red too I believe.

I saw this one all #'s match and a California car with paperwork back to the original owner for 55k. Looks immaculate.

Yep, If I didn't already have more projects than I'll ever finish, Stuart's car would have been mine a long time ago...

ditto, Stu's is a fair price IMO  :Twocents:   :popcrn:  yes my X green was a nice body & ......

I flirted with that NV/CA green car hard in my head a couple yrs ago (then at 65k as I recall), looked nice in photos to me, if a person does not need that fully restored thing that it not a bad buy either IOM.

Id love to find something like this but that price is a little too steep for this car. I'll keep searching for a real deal project 500 for the right price.

I'm not all into the 100 % factory resto's with pencil markings just not my thing, but for all the blood sweat and tears to bring it back to life I'd like atleast a fendertag.

I also noticed the car in the add has no chrysler logo on the VIN. Maybe had a fresh coat of paint ?

Is that the same one that went to Ray Evernham, along with John's F6 Daytona? :scratchchin:

I wonder if that 500 took a hit to the back corner.....I wonder why there are no pics of the plug-trunk lid-trunk floor ect.........

So the story is that it has been sitting since 74? I don't know what kind of condition it was in or the circumstances surrounding why it was parked but it sure looks like it has been picked apart over the years. Pictures are vague but I see $12k car..... and only think that high because it is a C500.

Nope... The car in California/Vegas is an A/C car.... The F8 Mr. Evernham bought is a basic 440 auto 3.23 car with 22" rad........

Well, Stu's car has been listed for a long time at his price. So it's clearly a little over priced for the current market, otherwise it would be sold. This car at $4k +/- less than Stu's with a missing quarter and tail panel is about equivalent at that price, and is also over-priced IMO. I think lack of fender tags and build sheets makes it hard to get top dollar for these high-profile cars right now. Hang on a little longer for a recovery, and then they will sell.

Then again, I have pretty high expectations on getting a 500 deal  :icon_smile_big:

Funny that the ad says it's "not in a registry". Well thanks for posting the VIN because I have another one in mine now! Woo-hoo!  :icon_smile_big:

charger_fan_4ever

And Danny already had it registered in his list as i had asked him about the car when I was considering buying it. He also said he had it as R4,black bucket interior and power disk brakes.

I was talking it over with my brother (65Post) and we both agreed a selling price would be 10k to actually move it fairly quick. If not its a 12-13k car like already mentioned. Even then still have not seen that back end or underneath.

The F8 of XS29 would have been the 500 project to buy. Timing just wasn't there for me.

Moparstuarts car is a good solid project, but like I said i'd like a tag as these high profile cars will always have a grey cloud over them without the goodies.

Ghoste

Maybe he just means the Guru Registry?
