Anyone have any history on this one? It sure looks great, nice options! No mention about the tag, build sheet or matching drivetrain however...

The "Wipeout Daytona"!!  Heard this is the one that spun out during the 1982 DSAC meet at the Proving Grounds - is that correct?  George Bockwinkle was listed as the owner back at the time.

It's interesting that it's advertised as one of eleven F6 cars... I  know of 36 myself, so I have no clue where the seller is getting their information.

Yes, it is the one that spun out harmlessly on the banking.    George Bockwinkel owned it.   Power window car too.   George owned the car at least since the early 80's and passed away a year or two ago.

hemigeno

So did George start its restoration?

hemigeno

Interestingly enough, Big Willie's "Queen Daytona" is the next consecutive VIN... and it was a F6 Green power window car with AM 8-track also.

Honestly, I don't know.   The last I saw him in person was about 2003.   He did not attend with the car.

Not the best pic, but here is the car from back in '82 in Ohio.    Mopar John's orange car with the Six Pack call outs is next to the Cyclone.    The green Bird next to the Daytona is ours.

A past owners reply That car had a fiberglass nose on it when I owned it back in 1979. Does it still?   I also recall that the rear quarters were replaced. I believe that a place called New England Corvettes did the body work prior to my ownership.

Regardless of what's been replaced, it certainly looks better today than when I owned it 33 years ago.   :2thumbs:

Prefer the F6 with the white stripe............. Perfect restoration...... Well, he needs a new oil filler cap on the valve cover......... So, it's the wipe-out Daytona? Interesting............ Long history.........

Big Willie's King Daytona was the vin # before this car.  Power Window,  8-track and 6 way seat also.
Caution.... Low flying aircraft.

So does anyone have an accurate count of how may Daytona's and Superbirds are left in existence with power windows? How much do you think it adds to the cars value? :scratchchin:
I have only seen one Superbird with power windows in the early 90's at E-town it was white with black interior sitting on a car trailer for sale and needing restoration. I wonder who has that car now?

Was it 82?  I thought it was earlier during the first Chrysler Car Club Convention?

Doug,
Great picture! Not only a picture of Mopar John's car but Mopar John standing at the back drivers side with a hand on the wing. I'm wearing a Coca Cola racing shirt that was white with a red collar! WOW!

Aero426

John, are you going to put the Six Pack callouts back on the car once it is done?    Otherwise, we will not be able to tell it is your car in another 30 years.

Mopar John

Doug,
I am putting the original color white wing and quarter panel decals back on! Too many Superbirds loose their identities when they are restored!
At this point I think I'm going to have Dave Patik make some white T/A style 440 SIX PACK decals for the front fenders!
MJ

I really like the polished trim rings...I have no idea if thats correct or not but I like it!

wingless now, but still around.
