I am thinking of adding a smaller , extra , fuse box.  With some extras stereo , amp , power windows , etc my fuse box is looking a little overloaded. Has anyone else done this? Where would a good place be to get the power from? Thanks

black side of ammeter ( or alt stud )  if you want an unswitched source

splice from black wire of ignition switch if you search for a switched source

I would run a new wire from the starter relay battery terminal with a fusable link into the interior that way you are not adding extra load to the bulkhead terminals that already overheat & melt with a little corrosion , you can use a relay to switch power to the new fuse block .

relay is a good idea BUT not from batt. If ammeter is still hooked will get wrong readings. Needs to be from alt stud.

If amm is bypassed, doesn't matter

the ammeter will still read load from the rest of the car why put more load on the poor bulkhead connector & ammeter , these are additional accessories

will read wrong on ammeter buddy. You can get a DISCHARGE reading and maybe is not discharging but feeding the acc sources on batt side. And still getting stress on the system.

True , when I did it this way I also installed a bypass from the higher out put alt to the start relay bat terminal

I haven't but will, put a fuse block in the trunk next to the battery. Amps, air compressor, fuel pump. And whatever else crazy happens...

elacruze , that was something I was thinking about too. An electric fuel pump. Wouldn't that help with the bad "hot" starting? MIne ,at least it used to , start hard when at "operating" temp. I think my fuel was boiloing away. I'd have to pump the crap out of it.

An electric pump will help replace boiled out fuel, yes. I would run a return line with pressure regulator in it, even for a carburetor-it keeps the fuel much cooler so it's less likely to boil out during hot stops.

Just installed an electric pump as well, and the hot start problem is better; I think a phenolic 'carb spacer will solve it altogether.  Too bad the pump is about as loud as the 440  ::)...In my opinion though, I think you'd be better served with installing a new wiring harness that by design hosts the features that you want to install.  With something from Painless, EZ or Ron Francis you won't ever have to worry about an overloaded electrical system again, and you'll have plenty of extra circuits to reliably wire up your car like something 007 might drive.  As for fuse box location, I placed my new EZ blade-type fuse box under the dash by the steering column...

I would pull power from the Ammeter like Natcho suggested...       add a small 6 ATO fuse block and wire up whatever you need,

Do you have any pics of your install? I'll be doing a 100% custom wiring job myself so pics would be very helpful.
