want to install steel pinion yoke set up for 1350 series u joint and u bolts in my 742 case. witch is stronger, 10 spline or 29 spline ?

Ghoste

Can you get a 10 spline pinion for a 742 case?

rare69

thats what it currently has.

Ghoste

My bad.  I thought the 29 was the stock one.  Well then, can you get a 29 pinion?

rare69

yes, i can get 10 or 29 spline.

Ghoste

Yeah, I was just looking that up on Randy's site.  I thought the selection for a 742 case was a lot more limited than that.
To be truthful though, I think if you're making enough power to strip either of those, you need to buck up for a Dana.  If you already have the 10 spline in there, get the yoke and straps for that and rest easy.

you would have to change the gear set to change the yolk spine count , not usre which would be stronger , I have broken 3 gear sets & never hurt the yolk / spline area
