I know we have a " Chargers in the wild " thread but I can't seem to find a " Old Mopars in the wild " thread so I started one.
Here's a car I saw sitting in a parking lot of a restaurant. There's a note on it saying it's broken down with a number to call. Bucket seats and a stick on floor, kind cool looking car.
So if you see any old Mopars still out there, being used or not. Show us a picture, and tell us a story. ;D
good spot :yesnod: ..looks in real good shape :coolgleamA:

Wow! Great pics, love the 70 Charger.
Just went to McDonalds because I was starving and when I came around the drive-thru after placing my order....."holy damn! A 340 'cuda!" And my brother always wonders why I like to take a camera with me :rotz: It's a 1970 with a black interior and automatic on the column

Nice Cuda but those wheels and tires don't do anything for that car IMO.
Seen cruising down I-5.
I've found thousands of Mopars in the wild and I don't think the site would appreciate all those pictures popping up on here.
Just take a look here and see some of what is around.

The 08 Power Tour was incredible. I can't wait to do it again.

That was for sale in Salt Lake a couple years back...someone's hatchet job. Actually, it could have looked worse, but the guy wanted some larger-than-reality price for it. :eek2:

Wing, You're wrong about the "duster" lol. Its a 74 360 4spd Dart Sport. It is a very solid project that we are going to get and sell. It has the factory hood scoop as well as factory v21 hood paint. Good colors too. The best part is, is it is a complete car. I have more pics of it. To bad your not a little closer and a little older. It would be a great car for you. It already has disk breaks on the front, so you would only have to ad them to the rear per your mothers requests. lol. I have a few more pics of it I can email you if you want. Just pm me your email and I will forward them to you.

Wow, this is one nice looking car. I talked to the shop guy and he said he works on the guys Challenger and his triple black 68 charger. :drool5: He said he built the motor for the guy and it's dyno'd at 600 and something hp. He said the 727 is only a year old and can't handle the power so he has to build it in some way. He said the guy has the matching number engine all rebuilt boxed up. The rope is so he can drag the car in and out of the garage.
I found this nice looking Charger parked on the side of the road. I wonder if he's a member here?
Some I took on vacation the first of the year. This guy liked showing them but didn't want you asking about them..........like anyone could fix and drive this many....but hey their his ::)
This guy had a yard full. I didn't even take pics of all of them. A dogmet me at the drive and no one came out :-\

Here's a picture of a friends '68 GTX taken back in '69 with a Dover drag strip(in Wingdale N.Y.) winning trophy.
Car location was Norwalk CT~owner~Steve Ackerman~car '68 GTX 440 auto on column, dark blue, black interior with chrome reversed rims.
Here's a few in the wild(wild fire's maybe)???
:flame:
I know the story on those cars. Here is the story told by a member from Cuda-Challenger.
"I toured the yard wanting to get a roof for my 73 Challenger. I was very familiar with the yard, and had struck up an amicable trust withthe owner of the yard. Not the friendliest guy in the world, but an interesting guy nonetheless. We found a roof worthy of a cut-job, and made an agreement for purchase of $500. Kinda steep, what you pay is for proximity I figured. 1/2 down, 1/2 on pick-up. The owner of the yard marked the cuts to be made, and told me that he would have it ready for pick up in 2 weeks. (He had a swap meet the next weekend). No problem. I gave it almost 2 weeks, calling on Thursday. I had a funny feeling because friends that live nearby said that they had a fire in the yard. So I called to check in to confirm pick up on Saturday, just to ensure that everything was kosher.
I spoke with the owner and he told me that the guys who were cutting off the roof off the car started a fire. He told me that 5 cars burned up pretty bad, and I should have a look. When I arrived, I searched the yard with the owner, and we could not find the roof at first glance. Once he showed me the carnage of what was left of the cars I deduced that the roof was probably wasted as well. When we did find the roof, I apologetically and calmly told him that the roof would no longer be worth my time. I wtold him I would be happy to see if there was something else in the yard that would be worth my money. "
Hey 68BeepBeep I think I recognized all those pics titled S.Dakota_***.jpg, those are all at one place along Hwy 212 in about the middle of the state right? If its the place I'm thinking I drove by there a few times and drooled over all the very old cars.
Saw across the street from my job.
Its a 66 4 door with a single exhaust. Dont know much about the options for that year.
I see it around from time to time.

When I was on lunch break from work I spotted what I thought to be an old mopar sitting behind a bunch of bushes. I proceeded to drive back and forth along the road EIGHT times to confirm that it was indeed a red challenger. :icon_smile_big:
I going to try and leave early for school tonight to get a picture of it.
Funny thing is I don't know how many times Ive gone up and down that road purposefully LOOKING for something like this.
This is the best picture I was able to get. Looking at it closer I think there might by a ?challenger? convertible next to it (look for the orange and black hood and the windshield frame. What do you guys think?

It certainly does look like a challenger. The hood gives it away. I will ad some finds in a wile. Good find finn

A couple of friends and I went to a motorcycle sale today to see the bikes and meet a local radio personality "Maxwell" of "The Maxwell" show (100.7 WMSS Cleveland). This '71 Chally was sitting across the street from the motorcycle place (State 8 Motorcycle Mall). Very nice car although I'm not a huge fan of the 20" wheels! Other pic. is of me with Maxwell.

here you go
Well, I went to check all the finds Ive posted in this thread so far:
The 1969 roadrunner in the field: Talked to the neighbor, seemed pretty nice. He said the owner had sold (it wasn't there when I went to check) but directed me to the proper mailbox in case I wanted to contact him about it or any other cars he might have.
The 1973 charger behind the fence of the storage place: Talked to the person in the office. Kind of a dick. He never told me if he was in charge of the area with the car or not. Him "No this is a storage area, the cars aren't for sale". Me-"Oh, well is there a way of contacting the owner just in case he decided to sell it?", to which he just repeats the previous statement. :rotz:
The challengers I posted about fairly recent: Success! Talked to the owner of the land they're on. Nice guy, gave me the number of the owner straight away and then let me walk back and take pictures of them.
Unfortunately Im at school for another 3 hours but rest assured they will be up tonight. They are for sale according to the land owner though he had no idea of the price. He was surprised I was able to see them haha.
Anyway, they're both amazingly solid and complete. The "convertible" actually had the roof cut off and was apparently in a movie?
Here are the vin numbers, pics to come soon!
Hardtop: JH23L0Bl86803
"Convertible": JS29N0El08805
According to my googling the second one is an R/T isn't it?
Oh and what does price class "high" mean?
Hardtop: 1970 Challenger 2 Door Hardtop with a 383 2BBL.
"Convertible": 1970 Challenger R/T 2 Door Sports Hardtop with a 383 2BBL.
I saw this Chrysler 300? today in Calgary Alberta.I could not get another shot because I had to turn at the next light.Looked like it was in very good condition.

Alright, talked to the seller. He wants to sell them ASAP, he's got one offer from a guy he works with for 10,000 (both of them). That guy has yet to come up with the cash but he'll be meeting with him today for lunch. If it falls through, I get them both for 8,500. I am trying SO hard not to get my hopes up but man, if you guys could say a prayer or cross your fingers or keep your black cats inside that would much appreciated. He'll be calling later today he said to let me know.
Additional info: Both have everything still in them, the R/T has either a new or re-done 383 (I cant remember which:brickwall:) with less then 300 miles on it, granted it hasn't been started in 3 years. Oh and it was in Natural born killer.

AWESOME, congrats! Is that a picture of it being used in the movie?
Thanks! Yup it is, I used the Internet movie car database to find it haha. Already have the movie on the netflix list too...
Funny thing is I think the other picture I found shows a guy filling it up on the wrong side. Typical movie people eh? Hahaha.
How awsome! Take LOTS 'O PICTURES!! So, the thinking prolly already has begun, what ya gonna do with the movie "convert" Chally? Restore it? (Meaning add a roof back to it) or, possibly leave it "movie correct"? I'd wonder which gives it more value? My :Twocents: ,? I'd leave it the way it is, aside from making it enjoyable/safe to drive fixing any mechanical issuies, etc. and DRIVE THE TIRES OFFA IT!! Cool. :coolgleamA:

Check out the picture he sends me:

Cool pics! Thanks for sharing
looks like the convert was sublime under the rear bumper...
great pair to score like that... now you'll be needin a Cuda to match the convert,.. eh?..
what the hell happened to those cars?! :shruggy: :scratchchin:
Thanks! Yeah it was definitely sublime. The coupe looks to be plum crazy too. There is purple showing through in a lot of various places. The fender tags are MIA though which is a bummer. Im hoping to find the build sheets but I havent looked yet.
Im going over to my buddies house tonight after class so if it is still light enough Ill try to get some more pics. The RT's front right fender got smacked unloading it from the trailer but its not too bad...I'm just glad it didnt mess up the grill.
It actually rolled back and pinned me against a gate once it was free...missed the jewels by about 2 inches :o.
Im curious about the Cuda though...I dont have room/money/time but Ill pass on any information I get.
1. Miami, OK cellphone pic last Thanksgiving
-The rest are a few years old-
2. Amarillo, TX
3. Texline, TX
4. Chickasha, OK swapmeet
Did I read that right? 8500 for two decent 70 Challengers and one is a ragtop?
YES....and in a movie to boot. :o
It was a JS23 challenger R/T that someone cut the roof off of though. Not an orig convert.
Correct, 8500 for both and yes the JS29 car was chopped.
On that subject, my friend and I got that one running yesterday!
Coughed out what looked like about 20 feet of mouse nest then it fired up like a champ.
AND the lights/signals/radio all worked. Radio sounded so good in fact we hooked up the ipod and went for a drive. It was a lot of fun till about 30 feet down the road it became evident that the carb needed to be tuned in more and the brakes locked up. :D
Finn, congrats on the score. :2thumbs:
You don't see the folks with the Fast-n-Furious, Elanor rides converting them back to factory.
Some may tell you to take the roof off the other one but the other one's not an SE.
IIRC, the "29" designation in the VIN means it was an SE. Unlike our Chargers' there is no A47 on the fender tag, it's denoted by the VIN.
Good luck finding the broadcast sheet for the R/T SE, it's a LA car and more often than not don't have the sheets. You may be lucky?
Other car's a Hamtramck ride, but since it's a small block the sheet may not be as important.
If it were me, I'd leave the "vert" as is but maybe reinforce the undercarriage. It's quite the conversation piece as is.
Thanks and thanks for the confirmation too.
I thought the 383 (which the coupe is too) feel under the big block category for mopar?
Either way Ill be saving that one too. I could never bring myself to chop one car for another unless there is nothing left but the sole part needed. Plus the convertible is going to stay the way it is for now but like you said, frame stiffeners and toque boxes will be added. Was there any other key structural changes on convertibles?
My mistake, I didn't pay attention to the motor code of the non R/T car, I apologize. So that's an even better score, two big block rides for what you paid. :o
I found a couple worth posting, one Todd will especially appreciate...
another just great to see, and the last made me feel Like a kid again... :yesnod:

Being that it's a '70 440 375hp motor, it has the big rods. Everyone practically calls them "six pack" rods, but the six pack had nothing to do with it. All 440 4bbls and 6bbls had the heavy rods, hence the counter weight added to the vibration dampner. '69 and earlier 440's all had the smaller rods, hence no counterweight.

Took my car out for a Sunday morning cruise. As I'm getting on the 57N freeway, I look in my rearview to see if I can merge on and see a nice 68 sassy green roadrunner with AZ plates and hood black out stripes.
Nothing cooler than a chance meeting like that when out for a cruise!
Tried for additional pictures, but darn camera phone wasn't cooperating
I guess these really go a little beyond "In the wild" and a little more like the "Forgotten" cars since we had to cut our way in to these to get a decent pic.
I think the truck is a 64. Not sure if it's a 3/4 or a 1 ton, the car is a 68 Polara that has been sitting since late 87 or early 88. When it was parked it didn't have any rust. I had talked the guy out of the car but once we got the trees and weeds cut away, air the tires up and got the car pulled out. The rear brakes were stuck fast and we couldn't get them broke loose by moving it back and forth. I didn't have time to pulls the wheels and get them freed so I left it. I may try to make another trip up there some weekend. I did put a battery in it and the engine still turned over. 318 with factory air and power drum brakes.

Your right, good eye, it was a 70 with billboards on the car.

I saw a Mirada a few days back. It was white with a white vinyl top and red interior. I didnt have my camera or I would have snapped a pic. I also spotted a red '79 Magnum the same day. It sounded great but was a complete rust bucket.

Been awhile since I've seen this thread or I've added to it.
This first green '68 was captured just this past Fri.
Won in a Official Plymouth contest in 1967 the participants were asked to list all the activities of a family seated at a picnic table... A strike at the factory meant the contest winner and eventual owner - had to wait for a '68 model which they were allowed to order as wished,.. I guess Convertable 340 S wasn't a bad choice,..
Just recently restofied by the second owner and incorporating all the modern tweaks like a Richmond five speed and TTI exhaust etc. and repainted a Honda Del Sol Green - :scratchchin: which fooled me into thinking it was the '69 1/2 spring green at first... What an awesome car!.. The paint was Superb! :drool5:
I told the owner Steve about this site, maybe he'll put in an appearance... :shruggy:
I think a few more pics. might be nice.. :yesnod:
on the subject of convert Cudas,.. (this is a clone BTW).
well... as Ferrari is owned by Fiat who owns Chrysler who owns MOPAR i guess this is gonna qualify, oh, and feel free to post up those Alfas too... :shruggy:
:drool5:
where was ferris ?
i can't believe you guys are neglecting this thread... :shruggy:
caught this one on the way out to the beach..
Nice, pass side mirror and rear bumperets. Pretty rusty for a CA car though isn't it?
You try being someone's daily driver for forty years... :P
that orange cuda vert is a Chiselers car.
:scratchchin: i can't figgure out why you guys use photobucket :shruggy: them pics are not likely to last too long...
shooting these pics on the fly is a lot of fun, and cheap too! :D
a couple bonus pics you may (or may not) appreciate. :icon_smile_question:
I found a few Mopars today! I had seen this Cornet parked on the street a month or so ago while out in the work truck, but didn't have time to stop on a 1 way street or park... Today I found a spot and had time, so I took a walk. Found it!
Found the Barracuda just driving by.. Looks like it got a new top, at and upholstery shop. Couldn't find parking around there for the box truck to save my life. Saw a big old C body while looking for parking tho. Couldn't get a pic of that either. Saw a Fury III later in the day too!
Found this today, and found someone that knows the car. They tell me the guy owns the 2 houses around the car but sleeps in a trailer out back. And nothing is for sale. :'( Another person thinks it's a 4 speed also. :drool5:
I would love it as a restoration project. Especially being in the color of my car originally. :2thumbs:
Found another Bcuda at dinner tonight! I wonder what it was having... :scratchchin:
50,000 miles with one repaint. It was his Aunts car.
took the 70 out today for first time in a month. turned the corner and heres a biege 68 crossing in front of me :coolgleamA:
stopped and had a chat and was a dude i met couple years back at a show. good to see his mechanicals finished. just needs paint now :2thumbs:
when you consider im in australia in a city of 2 million this is a true rare occurance!!!!!
told about this site so hopefully we'll see him on here (sorry forgot your name dude) :-\
Saw this Cornet Sunday. Looked pretty straight!
Also saw a Black B-body while I was at Papa Murphy's, but he was leaving as I was getting there... It registered as a B-body, but couldn't place a model.. think maybe a late 60's Satellite. Oh well, no pics of that one..
I like the "CORONER" 500 :smilielol:

Saw a Dart today... See them most frequently of all Mopars I believe. Looked alright, pretty straight; plus I had the camera phone handy! People don't like their pics being taken while driving! :nana:

Poor 300, I love those
Found these to at the end of my block yesterday. The brown on is a 69 with 68 fenders/grille. You cant really tell from the picture (only had my cell on me) but the other is a 68 in a really cool turquoise color. I don't know what paint code that is but man was it pur-tayyy! I talked to the owner, he works in the movie business and has a thing for mopars. Says he had 200+ chargers/challengers at one point. :drool5: Anyway, turns out he's moving his collection of parts/cars from Illinois out west to a shop right by me. He gave me his number and told me if I need a part he's probably got it. Sweet.

Hey Bama R/T.... that green '68 Barracuda, was that taken near Cullman? That's my wife's great-uncle's car. I have been wanting it for a long time. Its a plan-jane model with a slant 6/3-speed column shift with white interior. He bought it new and it has been sitting under that car port a long time (year registered on the tag is 1977). Its in great shape though.

I spotted a '65 Belve with 426 Wedge, auto, black on black, and the kicker... 37,000 original miles on Saturday and I didn't have my camera :brickwall:. I did get to talk to the guy and he said he was gonna buy it several years ago and a "friend" wanted it so he let him buy it with the stipulation he would get first chance if it was ever sold. the car made it's way to California before he found it again in September of last year. it's still even got the oil change stickers from the dealership under the hood! Hopefully I will get some pics of it in May at a local dragstrip for an all Mopar day.

Saw me a 65 Monaco again, I've seen him around the neighborhood 3 or 4 times now! Was at 7-11, and there he was, introducted myself briefly before left. Car looks straight and MEAN! :icon_smile_big: Me and my ignorant self asked if he had a 440... before I realised that those weren't available until the late 60's. :brickwall: He said he's got a 413 in it. Someone bought those 2 maybe we'll see more of them.... :shruggy:
I posted pictures of this car last year. I finally found someone home. Looks like the 90 year lady that owned it is going to a home or something? The daughter was there. They took the plate off and are gonna list it in hemmings. They think its a 440 car worth a ton of money. I explained its nice that its a 2 door but 440 is the model number and probably eBay would be a better idea. Whatever, old and beat but still kicking after all these years.
Cool story. I saw a Cornet 440 last Friday, couple other Mopars toO! :2thumbs:
A Van.
A Sport Fury and a Challenger toO!
A factory 71 Charger R/T and a few E-bodies wasting away. :rotz:
Saw this Daily Driver last month...
Here are a couple that are at my local QFC quite often
Was at the wrecking yard yesterday... They had a 67 Cornet in the cage!! 4 doors... but still! Guy in the office said one of the managers wanted to put it in storage. Looked nice.

Isn't that the truth! They already hit it up with the paint pen too :-\ Or maybe it's just a wax crayon/ grease stick kind of thing. Enjoyed your pictures of the '69 Charger and others you found too. You should drive over in yours and ask if you can check out some of the cars :scratchchin:
Found this Baracuda today. The guy say's its his driver. There was also a 3rd gen in back. Very nice guy, told me to stop in again.

Ya buddy! That think needs a little TLC.
Cuda looks sweet.
Ive always wanted the "joe dirt" kind of car....i mean make it "look" like crap, fake some rust on it, make it look faded and just generally crappy, ripped interior, cracked dash, faded faces on the gauges...but build the living crap out of the engine and of course have a rock solid chassis/wiring/suspension and just watch peoples mouths drop as you blow em away.
Walking around downtown atlanta, I had to grab my phone, quickly made a pic, did I see correctly? :yesnod: :rotz:
Is that a Mopar loaded on that truck.

Shot by my wife's iphone on our trip back to Halifax today. I cruised up alongside, down shifted from sixth to forth and did a "Vanishing Point" on the guy! He wasn't long catching back up to me!!
When he finally took an off ramp he flashed his high beams and I gave him the emergency flashers as a salute!
Ain't Mopar people cool? :2thumbs:

Got a new one. It's a 340, 4-spd 'Cuda just randomly parallel parked in downtown Minneapolis as though it's no big deal. Pretty awesome condition too.
...
Saw this unrestored '70 Bee today at the gas station. Only had one repaint since new. Has a 383 thats been warmed over.
The guy was nice enough to tell us about the car while his wife put gas in it. When he left the station, he got on it a bit too. Sounded awsome :2thumbs:
I have a soft spot for those 70 Coronets/Super Bees (my first car)
Me too. I love those cars. It would look nicer with the dog dish. :Twocents: You took great pictures. :2thumbs:

He does have mint original Dog Dish caps for it at home he said, just didnt have them on the car. And, I took these with my new cell phone.
Yup, it is a real LIL RED EXPRESS! Saw this today at work.
Came up behind this bad boy today in a parking lot. Nasty powerful sounding engine.
It's ironic you posted that pic. I spotted this yesterday in town after getting gas. After the picture, I pulled up along side of the guy and noticed the Barracuda emblems on the fenders. I then asked about it, and he told me it was made from a '68 Barracuda notchback, and it had a 440 in it. I really wanted to get more pics, but the guy seemed like he was pissed off I was bothering him. So I didnt push it. I will say the front of the car looked really good like a real bird with all the correct black out markings. In fact, the first time I saw it, I thought it was a real Superbird til I realized it was a bit to small.
That is the SuperCuda from the Mecum auction in St. Charles. I just missed it too. Damn
Found this Cuda/Challenger :shruggy:
I posted this one on Moparts a few years ago and was pretty much threatened for not telling people where to find it. It's been there for about 25 years maybe, but "will be restored soon". It is a real A12 F6 4 speed.
Next to it is an all black 71 383 Roadrunner.
Both cars pretty much rust free.

Challenger. Checkout the top of the window opening. On cuda's, the roof rail comes to a sharp angle where the B pillar meets the roof. Its a smooth radius on challengers.
Looks like an interesting find! Check it out and get some more pictures. :popcrn:

I posted pictures of this car last year. I finally found someone home. Looks like the 90 year lady that owned it is going to a home or something? The daughter was there. They took the plate off and are gonna list it in hemmings. They think its a 440 car worth a ton of money. I explained its nice that its a 2 door but 440 is the model number and probably eBay would be a better idea. Whatever, old and beat but still kicking after all these years.
We got the same picture same color car same side parked in the garage different car but in NJ

When I find them I usually write a blog about it a few weeks later.
Well if you want to see the pictures that go in the blogs. Here is this years grouping so far.

Here is a picture of my old 73 Plymouth Road Runner that was my daily driver in the mid to late 90's. No garage, drove it rain snow or shine, 318 pistol grip 4spd. I sold the car and someone trashed it. What i do not understand is you sell something like this when it's 26 years old, still driven daily and then the buyer just trashes it.It's been off the road now for like 10-12 years with a window even busted out. :flame:
Found this today just rotting away in a driveway. One of my all time favorite rear ends.

I had a chance to buy a '69 Coronet R/T in really nice shape but the guy wanted $14,000 for it. Blue with a black top, white tail stripe, 440 (not original), bucket seats, etc. Wish I would have had the money at the time.

I saw an orange '68 Charger up by Rush City, Minnesota today (7/22).
At least, the front clip was '68, and the bee stripe was a '68 style. In my rearview mirror, it looked like the taillights were '69 style, but I was on the freeway and moving fast. I know for a fact that the hood was flat black, despite the fact that the car was orange otherwise.
Anyone's here?

This 1975 Roadrunner is for sale and is a friends car, and was pulled from a barn here in Wisconsin. It has 97,000 original unrestored miles on it. It is a driver too. Only a 318 car though. I remember seeing a thread about that car awhile back and a photo of the owner standing next to it. He looked just like you would picture the owner of that to look like.

Staying in a hotel in Nashville while house hunting and ran across this tired but still sexy beast. It's been sitting here without moving for three days so I had to snap some photos. 71-2 Sat/Runner/GTX are high on my covet list. They just look mean. Figured I'd share with the rest of the class:

Cool place
When you think about it, it's amazing how many old mopars are still out there to be found. Tons and tons of metal that have somehow managed to escape the crusher or becoming land fill.
Saw a 70 Challenger on State Highway 1 northbound yesterday close to the Papakura offramp, it stood out, it was PINK FM3? :icon_smile_big:
Never seen it before either, cool for what it is

Not just Mopar's, muscle cars in general.
'71 340 RR.
Well used too :P
No picture as he had it under a tarp by the time I found it,but I have a 69 Cornet two blocks away from me now. It is Petty blue with a 6 pack hood and Cragars all around, looks to be just painted as no trim was on the car. I wonder what the guy has in his 2 car garage to leave it sit out. :icon_smile_question:
Saw what I'm pretty sure is a '68 Newport today while crusing the Beaches in the Jeep, probably 200 feet from the ocean. Good to see an old sled like this getting some wheel time.

Yep, you can get 91, 95 and 98. Some smaller stations won't always have the 98 but generally you can get it everywhere. 100 octane fuel has popped up at some independent stations too, but I think it's an ethanol blend.
WOW and they tell us the USA is the best place to live. I think you might be living the dream.
Do they rate them the same method though?

That Cuda was set up for the track. Only had drivers seat. Had roll bar, and nitrus set up in the passenger area. 440 engine, but if I remember it was a 318 car. At first it was for sale, but it had rust, bad, he wanted 11k for it. he said his brother paid that when he bought it (i think that was too much). I had offered 6k and that's when he told me what his bother had paid. He kept calling it a 440 cuda car, but the VIN stated different. I just let it go, i wanted that super bee. when I went to pick up that super bee and the two other cars i bought, he told me that the sister was keeping the car and she wanted to restore it in her bothers memory. It did have a new grille in the box and new interior all in a shed. He did have a rust free 383 cuda, but the VIN off the dash was missing and i didn't want to deal with that. plus it was just a shell, no hood or front fenders or interior. This guy must of had about 40 cars total. i had a thread somewhere on here that has the story. i can try to find it. i have a feeling i might get a call about that red cuda someday. i told him that if he had any mopar stuff that didn't sell in the estate sale, to call me. and i think that when the sister sees the work that is going to be needed to get that cuda going, he might offer it to me. but who knows, i am not much of a E body guy. but hey, it is a mopar i can help save.

Saw this 1969 Plymouth Valiant on April 14 in Redding, California.
What is it with Redding having so many classic Mopars? My friend used to live there from 2004 to 2010. Their Kool April Nites show is huge. I recall talking to a guy that was the original owner of a 1970 Charger in the show. White with a 383. I cannot recall much else about the car but it was in nice condition.
I lived in Redding,CA in 1984- 1988 and there were lots of Mopars then. I knew of a 1968 black Hemi Charger R/T that was driven by a little old lady. I knew of a guy that had a 1970 Charger R/T. At the time it had a 383 in it but he said one day he sanded the hood down and after getting through the layers of paint he realized he sanded through a Hemi sticker on the good. Turns out it was an original Hemi car...hemi missing. Yes, there are lots of Mopars in Redding.

Probably this '70 Charger. These photos are from 2007. I talked to the guy, original owner, 383, 4-speed. Also has original paint (obviously my '68's paint isn't original ;))
I would have to assume that you found the right one. How many people in a town that size could be the original owner of a white 70 Charger 383 ???
Thanks for the pictures, it was nice to see that car again.
Oh...Was white not available in 68? You mentioned yours isn't original.

Your welcome for the photos. White is the original color of my car, but it's been repainted at some point since '68, likely with a $500 Maaco special. Looks ok from 20 feet, and looks to be a different shade than original, if compared to the '70.
Mid '70s Dart in Red Bluff, CA. I'm amazed at how many A Bodies there are in the North State, considering how much it rains. I saw a '69 4 door Dart recently that looked as though it had just driven off the new car lot. Too bad I couldn't get a picture.

If they moved the gas filler off driver side it does not seem to be anyplace on passenger side either
Wonder if it is even sitting on the original frame any more ??

That's a good possibility about the frame. Side note - the tube is likely on the passenger side, below the door handle level, and the picture as shown just did not capture the lower body well enough.
I looked closely and detect a coil spring around the front shock. I'm sure those trucks had front leaf springs, not coils. And they were solid single axles, so not sure how a coil spring could be added to a solid axle. Either a whole new suspension has been "franken-dodged" into the frame, or it's a different frame. Just my guesses.

The red 58 Chev wagon does not really blend in very well with all the rest of the cars in the picture

Here's a close-up. It could be '71 base/Super Bee or 73/74 non SE due to the red lens proximity to the bumper border.
My guess is 73/74 non SE.

Unknown if it is for sale. Guessing it isn't though. The truck did not have a for sale sign on it, and it may/may not have an actual "owner". It was part of the scenery on display at a ghost town in Death Valley National Park.

'67 Chargers are easy. Externally, they have fender mounted turn signals. Internally, they have short consoles, unless there is a buddy seat, then obviously no console. No '66s had buddy seats. '67s also had emblems in the seat back vinyl, like Plymouths. A few '67s even had front seat head rests.

1972 (I think) Plymouth Duster. Redding, CA. 10/21/22
Saw this the other day when I was at my daughters house
1961 Plymouth Fury
Only reason I know what it was is my parents had a white one when they got married
The red car must move as the grass was not very tall under it
The side windows do not fit very well so I think it would get wet inside over time
Guy also had a VW bug in the driveway up on blocks
Going to blame my daughter again for these pictures as we were out at the vet for her dog
Thought it was kind of a neat used car toy lot so went back around to have a look
Looked in the first two cars in the first picture and they were both 4 speeds
Then the owner came out
Guess they are just his toys and the only ones for sale were the two old black Fords in the last picture on the front row
Then he smiled and said they would be turning white soon
I asked was he going to paint them ?
Nope they are going to get covered in snow so it sounded like they just sit outside all the time

Hi Chris, 29 January 2023
As soon as we saw the photo we knew it was a Valiant but not the year. It reminded me of a Valiant that came into our gas station around 1973. The owner wanted his brakes adjusted. Put it up on the rack, adjusted them. Put it down checked the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. Back up with the owner in it, had him pump the brakes. The drums were so thin that when the brakes were applied the drums visibly expanded.
This was in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, a burb of Akron, an area of the country with the worst weather in the US. Average annual sunshine of sixty-seven days. So much salt is dumped on the roads that back in those days some cars rusted out in one year. Three years was about the best one could expect if the car was a daily driver. Don't go there looking for a nice old Mopar. We had ours there but they never came out until late spring early summer.
In 1979 we got out of there; haven't been back since 2010.

Hi Chris, 14 April 2023
Seems you pass through many interesting, small, out of the way towns. From late 68 to late 69 I had a fairly large territory that I covered by company car. Had a large chunk of the north east. The small towns were the most interesting. I was always in a hurry to get to the next client I hardly had time to look in the rearview mirror.
Enjoy your travels as long as possible; you are lucky.

Agreed that the small towns are interesting. My territories (for Caltrans) are northern and northeastern California, so I feel very lucky to be able to be out and about for work.

Hi Chris, 17 July 2023
You sure visit lots of interesting places and find lots of neat Mopar's. I envy your travels and photography.
Back in late 68 early 69 I traveled the Northeast a fair amount, mostly on the Interstates and Turnpikes. I was in too much of a hurry to look around. It was a job, did see some interesting things but nothing like what you have posted. Thanks for all your efforts; you do brighten this site.

It is interesting for sure. I try to take miscellaneous streets, when I can, to see new places. I even find interesting non-Mopar related stuff!

Chris, you sure seem to stumble across some cool cars and trucks....as if the owner of this site is paying you to do it!
Redding.....I liked that town. A buddy of mine lived there form 2005-2010. He didn't like that it was colder in the winter and hotter in the summer than Sacramento. I like the trees and rural atmosphere there.
Thanks again for all the pictures.

You're welcome. I'm happy to share the pictures. I find myself taking many routes/roads I've never been on before to see if there's any Mopars to be seen.
Redding is nice, Been here for 18 years. Seems to be getting more crowded post-covid, but there's still lots of open territory to get away from everyone. Summers are definitely HOT!

This is my first post in quite awhile. Do come by to look at new posts and saw the restaurant and gun store. Would like to visit both if ever out that away.
Wonder how the food is? Learned long ago to only eat at restaurants that have lots of cars in their parking lot.
Thanks for the photos.
