????????????????????????// WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALIKING ABOUT ????????/

Troy

I had a wing washer once. It was kinda like a fuzzy sponge with a handle on it. It was pretty cheap at Wal-Mart though...

Maybe that's not what they meant?

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I do recall that place big block sam that sells clone daytonas for quite sometime. So thats were those ebay wings come from.http://www.hlpag.com

The wing washers are underside of the quarters on both the dodge and plymouth. They look like a battery tray. But are there to support the wing on top of the quarter

I'm going to use the fiberglass wing washers on my clones, but I'm also going to place a steel plate with the same curvature as the quarter panel between the wing washer and the quarter panel. Might not need it but then again, I'm covered.

I think you're right. I know one thing's for sure. There's absolutely no way that a guy could make an aluminum wing like that for a superbird and put it on the quarters without some kind of strong reinforcement. Those roadrunner quarters are very flimsy. The quarters on my bird clone flex a little even with my lightweight steel skinned wing.

Larry, do you have any trunk hindges made up to sell? I'm trying to round the rest of whats needed now before spring to get started again.
Mark
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

hotrod98

I had a shop build a set for me last week and I'm not happy with them. I 've found another shop that says that they can make them correctly. Should know something real soon. Daytonalo may be building them as well.

Been busy this week here at the dealership. I'll go over to the new shop next week. It's hard to find time when you're working eleven hours a day.

Heres the ones I made with a press and custom jig to keep tubing from crushing.Very slow process could only do a small section at a time, but it worked.

with hinges installed

hotrod98

Looks good to me. What thickness steel did you use? The originals were .115 wall for some reason. The set that I had made last week were around .076. I was hoping to be able to make them just like the originals, however the originals were crushed down to .750 width at the end that connects to the car.  I figure that's to accommodate the standard width ramp.
Here's a couple of pics of the hinge that I've rejected.

Thickness is the same. They have to be thinner at the body in order for the retaining clip to be used.

Anyone who needs trunk hinges , I'm making them tomorrow. They will have stop welded on and the pivot hole drilled , 150.00 a pair , let me know . I have the jig set only Thursday. These are bent with a square tube bender and they are pressed at the pivot as orig in order to install clip on pivot shaft . The stops are also properly installed . Will be in the shop all day on Thurs , call me if you want a set , Larry @609-315-2230

So Larry,  did you get any trunk hinges bent up? Or have you been pondering selling your doublewide to finance superbird rear window trim. Let me know

that company, halpag, outof illinois you speak of i drive by every day, its in lake villa and he has alot of junk he sells at extrmely high prices,if you drove by right now there is at leat 8 chargers painted like the general lee, he paints them in a very narrow garage right next to the lot, in the area around here they are known as the muscle car junk dealer. maybe you guys have had some experience with them that differs from what people tell me , but the guys i know that have sealt with them have never been happy, once in a great while they have something priced low enough that i could actually afford but not often and it would be junk aswell,i will try to get some pics of this place soon,i did hear they supplied the new dukes movie with some stunt cars though, but i have stopped by there at least a dozen times and never found any cars worth the value they put on them, recently they had and may still have a challenger or cuda with a six pack vin, however its a state replacement vin,if you guys are looking for charger projects and have money to throw away, theres your place

hemigeno

If you do a search on this site (especially in the General Discussion forum) you'll find a ton of opinions and bad experiences with hlpag.  You might also need to search for "Help Gag Me" and a few other appropriate variants on the acronymn.

Troy, the Administrator of the site, has some interesting reading from a while back when one of their salesman was trying to "defend" their establishment.  Quite entertaining.

At least you've seen their stuff for what it is, whereas a lot of people are dealing with them over the internet and buying parts cars at #2 condition show-car prices.

barnfindcuda

wow, i just went back and checked out a few threads about hlpag, some of the pics of the airborne guys car are disheartning, i feel bad for people that deal with them. i am going to definatly try to get some pics of their establishment so people dont get screwed, this has been going on for years and i am not sure why they are still open, how can you remain a legit dealer when you pull crap like that, iwonder if the states attorney general knows about these guys? someone should report them!

daytonalo

For doing what , Selling a car to an uneducated car guy !!!!!!!!!!! I will make it simple , if you spend money on anything that is outside your area of expertise or spend money without viewing it , and after you  realize you did not get a great deal . too bad !!!!!!!!!!!! Next time you will use an appraiser !!!!!!!!!!!!!
