I was at the auction on Friday as the first yellow Daytona went through. Bidding stalled at 95k and it was a no sale. Now if it sold after that I do not know. One of the B5 birds was not very nice at all. Nose cone was all out of kilter. Of the Birds the yellow one was by far the nicest. Low mileage da too 25k miles I think. The C500 to me was a bit of a disappointment. Chrome a pillars were repro, and fit like crap. They had three layers of chrome trim at the top of the doors. The Y2 Daytona with dealer installed 6 PAC was odd too. Someone tell me why they had the car reprinted recently? Last time I saw the car it was still wearing original paint and looked just as nice as it did now. Well to me it looked better before the repaint.

"I was at the auction on Friday as the first yellow Daytona went through. Bidding stalled at 95k and it was a no sale"

I'm thinking the combo of a non-matching motor, automatic tranny , and unexciting color for most people, brought the price down a bit.

As for the 6K 6 pack Y2 Daytona, I agree with Held that $155K was good money, again for an automatic Y2 car.

Aside being one a few documented Y2 6 pack car.The Y2 6 pack daytona 355105 car is listed as James Hytons car

Ah, must be HIS yellow car then .
Wonder why no mention in the auction listing?
You'd think with 6K miles on it, it would have a known history...  :shruggy:

I didn't like the way the yellow Daytona was shown at Mecum right after that junk Elnore mustang sold for million they didn't clear the crowed out just drove the car into them then 30 seconds later it was off the block way to fast i think  only high bid was $65,000 it was total disrespect in my opinion !!!! :flame:

The car has lots of known history.   But I don't believe it was ever documented that Hylton actually received it, or was given it to drive around for a short period.

All they had to do was take it to James!     :shruggy:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Ernie I took pictures of every one of the aero cars including VIN and fender tag pictures.
There was a letter with the Y2 Daytona stating the original order was for a Hemi car but the 440 one was shipped instead and that was the reason for the dealer added 6 PAC. It was a pretty well loaded car too. Cruise control and power windows.
Also got a picture of the broadcast sheet to the 500 and one of the Daytona's.

From looking at the results of the auction you can conclude that a nice Superbird matching numbers will bring around the 125K mark. Then you can subtract for condition or non matching from there. The yellow Daytona low mile was at the mark of 150K. I think for a low mile car and in my opinion a nice color and a 6 pack option that was not a bad deal. I would feel comfortable buying that car. The non matching Daytona was at he right number to I feel. I looked at a Superbird the other day because the price was low. It needed more than I wanted to get into but I went because I said if it was decent I can drive it and not worry as much about it.

one of the no-sale birds from indy found a more enthusiastic crowd at barrett jackson today. the high bid at mecum was 100k; not sure what the gavel price was at BJ, but it looks like the owner's patience paid off
