I voted no. I have a black car, and I don't care for the vinyl top...I don't think it looks bad, I just like them without them.

I don't know if this has been answered before but...  If a car came with a vinyl top will the stainless trim fit if a vinyl top is not reinstalled?  Does the stainless become to wide? :shruggy:  I like the look of no vinyl top with the trim to break up the roof line.

Personally i like this clean/smooth look better:

As stated before, vinyl tops are for Old guys and their Lincolns and Caddy's....Nuthin' but more holes in the car to make more rust through..

All chargers should have vynal tops, anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong

:stirthepot:

Except for those Burnt Orange Chargers... :yesnod: They don't need no stinkin' Vynal....err Vinyl.  :D

My red Charger came with white top. They removed the top one time and painted it.
1 of the good things, the roof section is free of rust.

Because I love the white top/red body combo too much I eventually need to install one or paint the roof.
Option 2 will be more likely.

For a more brutal look I won't chose vinyl. For the sophisticated look a top is a must :Twocents:

Personal pref is no vinyl, and no trim without the top either. I like how the body lines flow into each other. Curves are good.  :D

There are those that like vinyl tops.. not that there is anything wrong with that.  :nana:

Some Chargers come with vinyl top. I personally don't care for them. It does look good on triple black Chargers but otherwise I don't like them. I like how the roof looks without vinyl. What's your guy's opinion, do 2nd gen Chargers look better with vinyl top or without one?
I originally was never a fan of the vinyl top, but I think certain color combos set of the lines of the Charger better having one.  My car is T7 with a black top, and it works well.  If you stick to a dark/dark combo (like black on black, F8/black, etc) it looks great.  When you have too much contrast, then it looks a bit off in my opinion.

If its on the build sheet it stays on the car beside I've always like VT's.

It depends on the paint color. Some look great with, some look great without.

My R6 Red R/T came with a white vinyl top and I have thought long and hard about reinstalling it on the restoration. I do like the way Chargers look without them but, it is on the fender tag (white w/ white stripe and white interior) and it is going back on the car!

I think the biggest problem with rust under the top was the roof not being painted and most chargers sat outside for 20 years which isn't likely to happen after they are rebuilt so I don't think a vinyl top is going to cause a rust out now.

Any Mod top chargers on this forum? I think that is totally unique. Should definitely restore if you had that option.

Vinyl +1.

In most cases, I prefer it as well. It accents the already beautiful roof line.
All depends on the car, though.

I can go either way.  My wife loves the black top on my white car a bit more than I do.  If ever I redo the car it'll get another color and the top will be left off along with the trim.  But I certainly don't feel the urge to do so, I like how it looks right now.

Not sure voting is going to do much good as this thread started in March of 2010.    :o
