Agree totally, the worst kind of person

farm966

Capitalism at its finest...supply and demand. I agree it should be returned to the person owning the car, possibly something for the guys time, lunch or dinner perhaps at the most. I would be embarrassed to ask such a price, but for what I have seen people adversities NOS parts, this doesn't surprise me.

Agreed.
What an A-hole.
Advertise it on there to get the wider interest but at best a donation to send it back to where it rightfully belongs, or a donation to a charity of the buyers choice.

Notice how he said it was in pieces and sold it but just happened to forget about this.  Obviously he got it when HE got the car but forgot to include it when he sold it.  Makes you wonder if it was done intentionally to make a few bucks years later.

Probably not his intent at the time, but it would seem he is out to recapture some money lost for selling too early.

Anyone else notice the rather large error he made in the listing?

after i sell mine to danny from my deathbed, i will have the kids hold the buildsheet to extort another $20 from him twenty years later.

other than posting it large "in-living-color"?

on the other hand, he was probably beat down on price when he sold the project without excellent documentation AKA - "broadcast sheet"

If you guys think he's an a-hole, wait until someone else buys it, marks it up to $5000 and then tries to extort the owner of the car. This world has more of those kind of people then the "give it to the owner because it should have gone with the car" types

taxspeaker

Well I agree he ought to offer it as a nice thing, maybe dinner or a gift card. On the other hand I've been looking for my build sheet for 5 years and would pay at least something for it-not $2500 of course, but something. Pretty low on the part of the guy, glad its not mine since I would be tempted-just paid off the home equity line anyway.

UFO

Here's a thought. What if he listed that BIN price so high to ward off the average person from buying it. Current owner makes contact , seller stops auction and lets it go at a much more reasonable price.
Is the above wishful thinking?? Maybe.

My c500 had a hemi build sheet when I got it in 1980. I found the owner last year in PA. I had to go there, so on the way I stopped and gave it to her last Nov. for FREE. I could have sold it for a lot, but it made me feel real good that the build sheet got back after 45 years to the right car.  Rick. :Twocents: :2thumbs:

It's a "Petty blue" Superbird J99539 - isn't that the highest known Petty blue Superbird VON?

FWIW, this car was assembled at Lynch Rd. after the "LAST" Superbird that was on eBay last week.  I have NOT looked at the Clairpointe dates for these two cars.  :shruggy:

Lord Warlock

In a perfect world, I'd consider returning a build sheet to the current owner.  but seeing as he was a previous owner, its possible he may have sold other build sheets with the parts and misplaced one only to find it later.  And to him it was his link to his past glory.   I do know that if I ever sell my charger rtse, the build sheet and original fender tag will go with it.  Its only fair.

If it was a dude that found one in a junk yard and is trying to get a reward for gaining a sheet the easy way, I'd say he was scum.  But a previous owner? don't think that of previous owners.  And given the fact that Aero car owners tend to spend an excessive amount on your cars and sell them for much higher prices than the rest of us, maybe getting a build sheet for proof of build is worth a premium.  Don't see 2500 as being too high for a real rare superbird.  If I had a SB, and showed it often, I'd probably pay that for it.  But I'm not, will never be, so don't have to worry about it.

I would like to find a yellow 440 six pack SB that was sold in Jacksonville FL Plymouth dealer around 1973-4. (brand new) I remember looking at it on the lot when it was new.  Only one I ever sat in.  Know they were only asking 3000 for it, they had it in the showroom for 3 years and had just moved it to the lot.  Doubt I could afford it if found, but would like to see it again.
