Gas tank padding

So I have removed the fuel tank from my 70 RT to clean it out and replace the sock on the end of the sender/pickup.
I found that there was no padding on top of the tank to isolate it from the trunk floor.
I remember there being one on my old 69 Charger but I can't recall what it was made of.
I have limited time before I need to reinstall the tank so I can't order a replacement from any of the vendors your side of the pond.
Any suggestions on what might be a suitable material to make one out of?
I have a hood insulation pad from the old 69 that's big enough. I wonder if that would be ok to cut up and use.
Any thoughts?

I was stuck one time to put something between the gas tank and trunk floor and ended up using a couple pieces of tar paper ( the stuff you put on the roof of your house before shingles go on )

Not sure on the hood pad idea if it would hold water if it got wet

Did you search 70 Charger gas tank pad on Google?

Like mentioned, OE was some type of tar paper thing. I wasn't worried about factory correct but I wanted something between the tank and trunk floor that shouldn't absorb water. I was able to source rubber sheeting from a local supplier and I've been using that since 2017 with seemingly no issues  :shruggy:

The originals, it seems, were made of asbestos felt - no longer available for obvious reasons, I have just read.
Apparently felt paper is the new material used for repro pads.
As mentioned, there's not enough time to order from the US so I'll have to come up with something here or not bother at all.

Toolbox liner. Almost identical to what repro is now.

Thank you, guys.
Hopefully, you can get it in Australia and avoid shipping costs.

There's a company here called Clarke Rubber who sell all sorts of rubber and foam products.
I think I've seen closed cell foam sheeting there in the past so I'll take a ride over there this weekend.

Meanwhile, the fuel tank repair kit has arrived and I'll tackle that too.
Just waiting on a new sock for the sender and fingers crossed, we will be good to go.
