John, aka John108 was an active member several years ago when he was restoring his 68 Charger R/T. He posted mostly in the tech sections looking for advice since the car was the only restoration he had ever taken on. At that time, he was in his mid 70s.
John passed on January 16th. He was a 12 year member of the Capital City Mopars in Sacramento CA.

Sorry to hear that, John visited my place a couple of times years ago for tech help and I did a couple of small jobs for him. Did he "finish" the Charger?

By 2024, he said that while the car was finished, he barely had 100 miles on it. He spent a bunch of money, took 7 or more years and barely drove it. I saw him at a club event in Spring last year, he drove the car there.
He had limited experience and while eager, he needed a lot of help with what he did not know. He seemed in good health the last time that I saw him.

There is a contingent of the car community who find more enjoyment in building the car than they do in driving the "finished" product.. Kinda like the old "it's not the kill but the chase" and goes along with the "How often do you drive your Charger?" thread here.

That's a shame. Hopefully he found some enjoyment in the restoration. Like John said above, sometimes it's more fun working on the car. I generally work on all of my cars, it's driveway therapy...

John 108 (Gerson) struggled a LOT with the build of the car. He got a lot of help with it including several members of this forum. The absentee moderator Firefighter3931 gave him some sound engine advice.
I'm trying hard to be civil here and it isn't easy.
Outside from the car project, he was a decent guy.
