here's a close up of the plastic bezel spacers, you can see how the longer ones have extensions taped on...

Glad you found your answer. Sorry if I led you astray. When I checked my dad's '68 out it sure seemed to be part of the fender structure and lacked any mounting tabs. I probably should have pulled the grill out.

Now I have to go check it out again and take a much closer look. If you think '69 Coronets are the same I know of one in a yard near me. Plus, I have a '69 Satellite that could be a possible donor.

I believe the '69 model year is different... Could be... I haven't investigated that avenue, but it's worth a lookie....

I will check the Satellite out. The fenders are junk otherwise so if they will work and are not shot they are yours.

So they used the headlamp buckets that went with the 68 coronet grille. To think all those 68 coronet 4drs and wagons we parted out :Twocents:

Yeap.. It appears Creative got in bulk amount of this particular pod structure that would have normally been part of a complete '68 Coronet fender.

Maybe I'm missing something , I always thought, and It would seem reasonable if the 500 used a 68 coronet grille, there for wouldnt also use 68 coronet head light components?

Yes, it's the most "obvious", but when you don't have a part number to go by, it's not a "bolt-on" component and even the most informed aero people aren't quite sure, then it's not so obvious. That was my first hypothesis, but I needed to see the front of a '68 Coronet fender without grille, bezels, headlamps and all... Even with that being said, it looks like Creative modified the needed component from the fender. Since the component that was utilized to move the headlamps flush was a bolt-on (albeit creative) for the C500, I also wanted to make sure the pod wasn't something from a trunk or C-body.. I wanted to be able to focus on exactly what I needed to find for my C500....

Troy, would the part numbers help any? One of the sets I have was a "used" NOS set that still has the part numbers on them. I can dig them up later when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it's just a 500-specific part number, and was not listed/available seperately for the Coronet fenders

Hey Rich, that would be cool. But, ultimately, I don't think I'll ever run across a set of NOS C500 headlamp pods, so I need to understand the parts they used. The pods themselves, like Dave P. pointed out, are stamped. So, I doubt very seriously Chrysler created a press just for that. I'm sure they constructed the pods by modifying existing hardware/sheetmetal. I would love to see some pictures for my reference and a possible article for a newsletter.

Thanks...

Here's a couple more pictures of the driver's side bracket. The top one is off the copper 500 I bought last summer, and the unpainted one is a "used" NOS one I found a few years back. I don't seem to have any pictures of the passenger side bracket, but if you really need one I could take one for you. At least you can see how much you need to cut off if you use a donor Coronet fender.

You can also see the part number for the driver's side. It looks like 2836985. I can't remember what the passenger side number is, but it's either one higher or one lower. Also, the NOS set had white plastic mounts for the headlight bezel, while the production set had black mounts.  :scratchchin:

Hope this helps.

That #2836985 shows in the regular 69 parts book in the W Coronet line. Also looked it up in the 69 collision parts quick number reference book showed NA
