Thanks, tantop.
That's what I thought, but I'm not really up on the '70 Chargers.

Which is why I find it interesting.  It was the cheapest least adorned way to get a Charger and the sunroof was the most expensive option they could get.

Those 9 customers really-really wanted a sunroof, and had to cheap out on the rest of the car to afford it.

It would be interesting to know if any of the 9 were customer ordered, or if most/all were dealer ordered/sales bank cars. Maybe Chrysler sent these 9 "cheap" sunroof cars to dealers in sunny climates to try and drum up sales. Would also be fun to actually come across one of these cars for the registry. Scott.

Is there any factory records on the sunroof cars other than percentages built? Does ASC still exist? Did they have records/pictures of any cars being converted to sunroof cars?

ASC is still around in one form or another, but any history I fear is long gone. There have been several sunroof owners that have contacted the current business about reproducing the cables and a few other parts for older sunroof cars, but they don't seem very interested.  ::)
Fortunately, there are a few people actively collecting original sunroof parts, and a few that are starting to reproduce a few of the minor parts on a small scale.

Scott,
Could I get a copy of the sunroof pamphlet you mentioned?
The two surviving 4 speed cars, can you provide some more info on them? Are they R/Ts? Do you have pics of them? I have a R/T 4 speed car now. But, to me, the ultimate would be to own a R/T 4 speed sunroof car.
John

Hey John,
The 1969 sunroof pamphlet I have posted in another sunroof thread. I will post it here also. I am still in the process of updating it with the 1969 Charger registry cars. I should have it updated by Sunday evening (9/28). I will PM you with what I have on the two 4-speed cars.

I have a 70....  My buddy had that nice black 69 survivor with the tan interior....I will try and find the details on that one.
Hey Jim,
I have run across your FC7 car in a couple of posts you authored either here or over at the 70 Charger Registry. That was a very nice score. If you could pass along any info/pics on that black 1969 sunroof Charger, that would be awesome.
Thanks, Scott.

Hi Scott - Don't have the VIN or tag info handy - but I found some pics. Total survivor.....I think 95% + original paint.
It belonged to Richard Heidbreder, who sold it to another buddy....who then sold it again to parts unknown. I'm sure someone on here will recognize it....it was one awesome survivor.

Thanks Jim and Tan Top! This one is in the pamphlet - but I didn't have such a nice array of pictures and I only had a partial VIN. It is one sweet car - I wonder where it is now......... Everyone keep an eye out at the shows. Thanks, Scott.

I believe the red car above, I could have bought in 1997 or 1998 for $17k. Don't think there are too many w/ that description. Anyways, NOM is why I passed.  :Twocents:

The Black/Tan Charger is gorgeous, and well equipped  :Twocents:

Thanks Tan Top! I am still gathering info on that one - One of our former club members actually owned that one, way up here in South Dakota many years back. He is mentioned in that MCG article from 2000. He moved to Texas last year and I am still trying to catch up with him. Scott.

So myold car is the only 318 sunroof car around? I will look in my photos when I get home but pretty sure at one time there was like 15-18 sunroof 69's that were owned by board members.
That black RT/SEis the ideal sunroof 69. Last time I saw it was about a year ago and it was for sale then for $60k.

6pkrtse

I have been looking for a sunroof set up for my other Charger project. If anyone knows of a parts car or a roof already cut off of a car let me know.

Yes, 69_500 - Your old car is the only 318 sunroof 1969 Charger that I have found so far. If you have any additional pics/info on sunroof cars - I sure would appreciated the help!

Have updated the statistics page - learned a little more on a couple of cars that I already had.
