I recently purchased a complete 72 charger grille and I am trying to install it in my 73 bumper. Two brackets can be moved but it don't line up. Has anyone had success in putting 71/72 grille in a 73/74,bumper.

Are the mounting holes different on the 71/72 bumper, or is it the reinforcements that are different? I thought the same as Nacho, but I've never actually done it. I guess the easiest would be to bolt in a complete bumper with grills and brackets.

I have seen locally MANY TIMES they interchanged, and nobody reported me something hard to do or different :shruggy:

ok, confirmed... a friend of mine installed a 73/74 grill on his 71 ( making a custom bezel filler to fit square headlights ) and told me was a perfect match. So must be the same the other way around

need to note the filler is installed over original grill. Grill was not cut or modified

OOOK, got in touch with a friend who has a 73/74 bumper and a 72 grill set, and told me the OUTER screws doesn't match maybe for half an inch or less. I'm asking if is because the fastener insert location or bracket is way from the grill provision. I remember my Charger grill brackets got two provisions for each of the grill screws and just one fastener on each one.

something new learnt!

I don't remember, but you need a 71/72 Bumper. Better yet, get a 71/72 charger  :2thumbs:  :2thumbs:

actually checked on ebay a 71/72 grill bracket set and a 73/74 grill bracket set and they definitelly look different... inner and centers maybe diff but matching, and outer looks a diff curved area.

Here is a pic I've had for years on my p/c. It is just a random pic from the internet at the time. But it looks like he put the whole 72 bumper set-up on his 73-74 Charger. Notice that there are no corner fillers

I'm looking on my phone but I'm not seeing an arrow emblem on that bumper. Looks like a 73-4 bumper.
Brackets mount the same if you can get 71-2 ones.

It's a small picture. You can't see the entire bumper. :Twocents:

I'm still not seeing an arrow on the bumper and the guards are 73-4.
