I bought a new ignition switch from years one 70-71 key cylinder. there is a lever of some sort sticking out, my original does not have it, it looks like it was cut off? Any ideas? Left side is the new one.

If I recall correctly, that lever retracts when the key is inserted to enable the cylinder to be removed. Its been quite a while since I changed mine out, hope thats what the lever is for

lever is for the ign key in warning buzzer switch. Pops out when key is in to push the warning switch and makes to buzz the buzzer ( which on 71/73s is the same horn relay mounted on fuse box, but diff device on 70s )

this is the warning buzzer switch:

thanks, I thought it was something like that. I have that buzzer switch with the 2 red wires. Does that lever activate the buzzer? I cant seem to figure out how to slide the cylinder in with that piece sticking out?

The lever sticks out just when key is in... For a while must be hidden into the cilinder.

Yes, the lever push that switch

Thanks Nacho! That was it, key out and that lever moves in. I guess that is what activates the buzzer switch. Do you know what feed the 2 feed wires need from the buzzer switch? Iam using Ron Francis kit, no original harnesses.

THanks again! With 15K posts you must know something!

Both red feed wires for buzzer went to flat white steering colum connector.thru another harness to a buzzer near glove box I think

can't recall on 70, but 3rd gens get these wires becoming black on underdahs harness. One of them gets one of the prongs/pins on  driver side door jam switch ( diff one than the yellow feed ). The other one runs straight to buzzer device, which on 3rd gens is part of horn relay. I know 70s buzzer are quite diff on this buzzer function
