my brake lights are not working, they where last time i checked, not sure when that was. i know my blinkers work and my running lights. if those work that tells me its not the bulbs right? must be something under the dash like a switch?

I would check to see if you knocked off the plug on your brake pedal switch. If not, Unplug it and put a jumper wire across the terminals and check operation of the lights... :Twocents:

Do you have hazzards?

Some spots to check:

Pink wire at pedal brake switch for full 12 volts.
Brake pedal switch conditions.
White wire between pedal switch and turning switch. Should get 12 volts when giving brakes at turning switch plug
Dark green and brown wires leaving turning switch. Those are the outputs to high intensity bulbs on rear. One to one side the other to the other side.
Hazzard switch and plug conditions. As far I recall on 69 and earliers this green and brown wires should get the hazzard switch being spliced into the plug. On these years you can get brakes with hazzards on being a divorced system. 70 and laters you can't

Or fuse... Both usually comes from the same one. Check for power on pink wire at pedal switch first

Ok, I'm gonna be there in about an hour and a half. I'll check that first and fuse too.

Ok. That plug wasn't on good either. Man I feel dumb. But I still have an issue with flashers and blinkers now. It might still be the switch. But when I use it it flashes one side only for awhile and then the other joins in. Also the blinkers are faster now. I think when I added led hood turn signals it caused this. Could it cause the flashers to act up as well

Sounds like a bad ground...I would find the wire harness grounds wires unbolt them and clean anything away that would prevent good contact. :Twocents:

I am doing that as we speak.
I never had a bulb for my dome light so I picked one up. When I put it in it stays on all the time. I'm gonna check the door switches and see if that could be it. Any. Other ideas.

Dome light door switches or roll knob pushed all the way up.needs to be down a notch rear brake light mostly turn signal switch or harness connection.be sure all bulbs are good and well grounded .At brake switch you got 2 wires double pink and white. And power there .also you can remove wires from switch and jump the two together. If you get brakelights you need a brakelight switch

Didn't think about the roll knob but I just tried it. It's not all the way up. I got all the brake stuff figured out

On my '74,  I had a weird thing where when I hit the brakes, the dome light would come on but the brake lights wouldn't. It traced to a shorted trunk light wire that had gotten pinched in the hinge. Finding that was pretty much dumb luck.

I have the same sometimes on my 74, is somekind of short or groundiing somewhere what cause heat on fuse contacts what in fact melted the fusebox on that source cavity.

Luke, are you sure you got correct bulb? 1004 two contacts one filament. Bulb base is isolated from filament and get both sources from bottom contacts

Yes sir, it had a bad one in it and I verified before buying another. I still need to check knob and door switches. I've been out of town, maybe this week.
