also, Hamtramck '68 Charger R/Ts (XS29) don't use the "0" (S/0) on the fender tag for the default BLACK "bumblebee" stripe (310)

all Hamtramck R/Ts will need a stripe code to be accounted for or the data (pie charts) won't be accurate - not sure if this can be implemented?

I entered this vin XP29G8B345142 & found the fender tag to this car I cant edit my entry HELP Homerr  I do not own this car, it is a for sale car.

The original thought for the layout was to 'build' the car, as if ordering it, and then it would show up as a broadcast sheet.  I wanted to involve submitters in the experience.

...

I considered what you suggest at the inception of this project, back when I barely knew what I was doing.  Reading the ideas again has gotten my wheels spinning a bit.  But I'm also not wanting to take away from the user experience.  To me it's a nice experience to enter a tag, but maybe I'm being too much of a nerd about it.

That's actually some pretty good thinking. It does make for a better user experience to do it the way you set it up.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Done. I had a question about the trim code, mine reads "50" but I couldn't enter it?  Also, scheduled production date was July 5th of 1968. Not sure why that didn't go. Operator error, I'm sure.

Thank you for this, by the way.  I will be fun to watch and see how it develops.

Yes, it 's: A22111

Got this fixed.

Edit: and it broke.  The alphanumeric thing, and the first digit as a zero - please keep entering the info, I know it doesn't display correctly on the 'BROADCAST' tab of the spread sheet.  But the info is there, I just need to figure out how to get it to play nice with itself.  I'll get it done soon.

I think I can do this when I get to the custom charts/stats, but not currently with the vanilla google setup.

lloyd, the code isn't 50 but rather two codes read vertically.  Read your tag as 25 and 30.  Easy mix-up.  Note a few digits to the right is code 78.  I updated this in the database.

I fixed the date too.

Thank you or the registry, I found out alot about my car just by entering in the fender tag data and referencing the build sheet (I have never really understood how to decode a '68 tag, and your data input made decoding easy).

Two questions:

1. I notice that the build sheet has more numbers listed for "options" than the fender tag. Are these "standard" options on all '68 Chargers that wouldn't necessarily be noted on the fender tag?

2. It would be great if there was a way to print out the entered data in a list form. I tracked my entries in a separate Excel spreadsheet, but a printable output would be great! (maybe I missed the 'print' option).

Awesome job on the registry, I'm looking forward to watching it grow.

Homerr: Many thanks!

Also, how do I get to see the pie-chart again?

1.  I take it you mean like columns 4, 5, 6, for example.  These were there for other Chrysler models, Chargers just didn't use them.  and there was only so much they put on the fender tag.  There are other options that would have been on the broadcast sheet like wheel covers, steering wheel, heavy duty battery, and more.

Hamtramck-Historical is an awesome resource:  http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/dealerships/1968DealershipDataBook-03.shtml

2.  Interesting idea!  I'll chew on that one for a while...it isn't realistic or practical that an actual broadcast sheet can be created from a fender tag (the other way around is possible).  But maybe a 'lite' version could be done.

I've changed things a bit so this is the 'white background' stats sheet.

1. That makes sense for those columns. In other areas on the build sheet, I see "Floor Mats or Carpets", "Glove Box Lock", "Undercoat & Underhood Pad", etc. items that weren't noted on the fender tag, but have a number associated with them on the build sheet. I'll check out the link you listed for more info.

2. Yes a 'lite' version would be great, even if it's in a list-type format.

What has been the history of previous Charger registries? (I think the '69 & '70 cars have had one for some time now?)  After the initial flurry of submissions then it just trickles in, I presume?  At what point can you begin to make evaluations as to the total number of cars still surviving?

I'd be curious to hear approx. how many cars are in other registries.  DodgeDon?

% survivors is always going to be a WAG I think.

No question, at best it would be an extrapolation (there will always be "outliers"). However.......we're approaching a point of no-return here at the 48-year anniversary. The cars that are going to be "saved" have largely already been done for many years now. The rest are effectively donor cars because of the financial burden required to complete them.  With the advent of the internet, many (if not most?) are well known at this point, either by regional members here, or they have at-least been seen somewhere before.  I would think that the '69 Registry would be a good clue as to the "known" number of survivors for those cars?  If you get enough submissions (and I don't know what that number is), you begin to have a fairly valid sample of "data" that you can use to extrapolate survival numbers.  I would guess that a 10% sample of known production would be a good target, but I'm no statistician. Perhaps 5% is all you can hope for?
