Will any 3 speed wiper motor work as long as I have the correct drive linkage and crank arm or do I need the 3431077 wiper motor for a 71 charger. I don't care if the numbers are correct.

To do a period correct conversion for a 71 Charger, you need:
3431077 Wiper motor
2822289 Crank arm
3431102 Drive link
3488073 Switch (w/standard inst. panel) or 3488043 Switch (w/Rallye inst. panel)

I'm showing 72-73 the same but 71 different and 74 different.
However the good news is 70-71 E body takes that motor. So you do have a couple years to choose from.

My 74 is working nicelly with a 72 motor

There must be some difference Nacho, what do you think it is? MANY times Ma Mopar changed something electrically but physically it was the same.
I will assume it mounted the same ... is it 3 speed? Also what is the date code, possibly an early 73 motor?

Nacho-RT74

Three speeds. My car came originally 2 speeds and made the change. Can't tell the PN or build date now since my car is thousand miles from home. Also bought a kit to refresh the inners and was valid for a loong list of Motors PNs.

If some diff, can't tell what could be

I know later motors got a tower where the parking system is mounted, and earliers didn't. But the one I got is with the tower still being 72....

I made a big research about parts involved an all 2 and 3 speeds setup when I wanted to make the conversion... if you want to read:

From what I can see, the motors may or may not function the same but the harness is different.

Nacho-RT74

Harness change with year/generation but you find a 71 B body without parking system tower with same plug and wiring than a 74 with parking system tower since both are same generation, both will plug and work with same wiring setup.

Now as mentioned, Is there actually a major diff ? dunno. As mentioned I'm using a 72 into my 74. Maybe some performance difference, but I don't think how they work.

E bodies matches 71/74 B body setup too

I have a 68 charger and I think Cardone has wiper motors for 72-74.
They were not very helpful when I told them I had a 68.
They rebuild but you have to go through a local auto parts store and they won't provide any info.
