Hello.
Does anyone know, if this Ralley Dash fits in a 1973 Dodge Charger?
It seems to be from a 1971.
And is it possible to replace the clock with a Speedometer?

Thanks
Axl

Bob

Do you mean switch the clock for tachometer? Appears you have a speedometer.

Stagepirat

Sorry.
Yes I mean to switch the clock for a tachometer.
Sorry, in german we call it tachometer for the speed (mph), and rpm-meter (Drehzahlmesser) for the round per minute.
Kind of confusing. I would like to know if I can replace the clock with a tachometer (rpm). And if its hard to find a fitting one.

Thanks
Axl

That's OK. Our resident dash expert, Nacho, will chime in with what it takes to switch to a tachometer. You may have to find a dash harness with the  proper wires.

You can get new or rebuilt ones with modern electronics. (about three quarters of the way down the page on this link.....https://www.herbsparts.com/products.asp?cat=469
There are only three wires involved: An illumination wire, a signal wire (to coil) and a power wire.  Very easy to put in and hook up!
BTW, That's a very nice uncut rally dash! If you want to sell the clock, I would be interested.

Stagepirat

Thanks for all your help.
I will try to purchase one from herbsparts.
When I managed to swap them, I let you.

are you changeng from Standard to rallye ? or Rallye from a better conditions Rallye ? or the basic rallye to the clock setup rallye ?

If standard to rallye... will need mods on your standard harness or get a full harness (73 better, 72 the closer one, 71 and 74 are diff although can get them to work )

If basic rallye to a Clock cluster Rallye, will be a plug and play job. Need just to keep your existant heater/AC control and wiper switch. headlights are the same all the years.

If just changing because found a better condition one... same as above

When changing from Clock to Tach... need just to replace the clock for the tach being a plug and play job and add some wires. Repro Harnesses for tachs are available around, but is SOO EASY that you can make it by yourself just getting the plugs, terminals and wires by maybe just half of the price. Clock wire will be removed.

Good point Nacho! I made the assumption that he already had a Rallye dash in the car and just wanted to upgrade to a tach. That's why, YOU DA MAN!

Nacho-RT74

Just checked another thread he began and noticed he has a 74 SE, so he already got the rallye cluster.

But AS FAR I KNOW the clock is PART of the SE package!!!!! Don't understand why you need this!? Or Am I wrong?

Diff will be the same than the ones posted BUT your 74 got icons at a side of the switches ( wiper and lights ). This is an only 74 featuring. If you want to keep it, the woodgrain bezel can be interchanged being installed on the 71 housing to keep the correct 74 featuring on this

Or it was part of the brougham package but not of the SE? Can't recall

Hello.
When I bought the car, this dash came with it. I was told, it originaly  belongs to my charger. The reason why I want to swap to rally dash is because I prefer the look of it. But maybe I keep the clock and put a aftermarket tachometer in another place in the car.

Nacho-RT74

ok, THIS IS weird... thats the INCORRECT cluster for an SE. IT SHOULD GOT rallye cluster.

How does look the cluster wiring ? many wired sockets around or a multipin round conector ?

Here are some pictures of the backside:

Nacho-RT74

As told, that IS NOT the correct cluster for an SE. That's standard cluster and SEs got rallye by default.

Wondering now about what underdash harness did you get on car

Nacho-RT74

how does look the end of the harnes too feed the cluster ? a round multipin or several bulb sockets hanging around ?

Please post some pictures of the inside of your car where the cluster gets installed.  We need to see the wiring inside of your car.  Danke sehr.          :popcrn:
