Is this an optional Charger sport mirror or aftermarket junk?

I parted a loaded 318 70 Charger in the early 90s and this door is all thats left. The car had a 6 way seat, tach, cruise control but no a/c so those other options got me thinking if it had sport mirrors too. Vin ending in 254107 I believe. The mounting location seems silly but hey its a Mopar. So what do you think?

That's a corvette mirror.  I have the same one on my '80 Corvette.

It looks GM. The Camaro/Firebird line had one external screw visible but the G body Malibu/El Camino, Cutlass, Gran Prix, Regal cars had that same mirror that mounted with studs and nuts that were hidden.

seems to be GM piece, or inspired... the GM pieces I know are more rounded on front

Another vote for '70s GM stuff.

Funny thing is, that look is coming back into style.  The newest cars/SUVs are going back to mirrors standing out a leg instead of the whole mirror structure being merged to the front corner of the window area.

Whelp I guess I wont feel bad for tossing the drivers side mirror long ago. Thanks for the help! Interesting thing is the mirror has the same copper paint as the original color of the car so they have probably been on the car a long time.
Plus like I said its mounted in no mans land I figured it wasnt right.

In general, I would not refer to that mirror as junk.  They looked decent and were popular. I saw a 70 Charger at a show with those mirrors on it. They look similar to the "racing" mirrors our cars came with after mid year 1970.

:iagree: They look good on all kinds of Mopars.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Is a sport mirror off a 70 Duster the same as a 70 Charger or is the mounting base at a different angle ?
