That is also what I was thinking, but I have a 70 so don't know and cannot directly check
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

That was my first thought. Checked my 68, not the k frame to rad support.

Looks more like the brace from under a battery tray to the body to me.

That bracket looks familiar though...  :scratchchin:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Nacho-RT74

being serious..

10" lenght and it seem small bolt ( 7/16" head maybe ? ), so not a heavy stuff to hold.

sounds something like a door/quarters windows stuff. But... is there something inside needing 10" lenght for a bracket ?

or maybe... under the dash?, buuut... with elongated hole to be adjusted ?

It seems also gets into a slot due the key/tab

3rd gens got a similar ( shorter thought ) bracket between headlight bracket support and frame rail end as far I recall, although using J nuts... doesn't 2nds get the same ?

The battery tray brace has a twist bend at one end.

I don't think it's the k member to lower radiator brace. I checked my 68 , it has the same brace that green69  posted. I bought  the car sight unseen from a board member. He sent a lot of pics but failed to mention that the lower radiator support had been cut off  ::) ::) . So obviously the brace/bracket wasn't there.

Could be a brace for the front fender area but this was a Daytona clone so the front is all changed.

I don't think that brace gets a nut attached, since it seems bolts attach straight to K member provisions
