Wondering about FB ppl on Cars groups!

ok this is maybe the second or third time it happens.

WHY THERE IS ALLWAYS AN OWNER CAR  WHAT GETS SOMETHING OUT OF THE REGULAR ASSEMBLY LINES ?, but allways on FB, not on dedicated boards like this.

Sometime ago, some ppl testifying a 73 Charger with standard cluster, where the rallye was the standard equipment. Even it was powered sunroof, where 72 was the last year for powered.

Another one saying His 73 SE got from factory a Power buldged hood... what ?... ok show me the code!... didn't posted of course.

Now, there is a member on a FB group who claims a 73 400 with water pump inlet on driver side, where it is well known 73 was the first year for the inlet side change to passenger. He says has got in fact 3 of them and working on them since 35 years ago!

Sometime ago, a discussion about no 383 with zero deck and he has built around 400 engines. However on Moparts there are couple of members WITH PICS OF THEIR ENGINES with zero deck 383 engines ( one of them even +.003" ). Direct connection book states in fact not use closed chambers on 383 HP ( or something like that ) because they leave the bore... and was imposible even talk about that with the guy because HE HAVE BUILT 400 ENGINES AND IS A VERY WELL RECOGNIZED MOPAR GUY, then the bullying began.

Why this happens allways on FB and never on specific boards ? I mean... I have being around this board since 2002 ( taking in mind the old board ) and this kind of weird testimonials never float on! I think 16 years around gives sometime to find out this kind of weird stuff before.

Is the same with some other Mopar models, and rest of car brands ?

Only a guess but maybe its more work to be on a forum like this?  Maybe it draws out the hardcore whereas any joker can get on fb pretty easily?  No idea really Nacho.

I meant the guy has built around 400 Mopar engines ( several displacements ) but that was another discussion. I posted about that on OT area. I even got "racist" coments trying to get that discussion on. I left that Mopar group anyway after that

About the water pump housing inlet setup, everything was with respect ( on a diff group ), but wondering about the truth on that. He claimed Chrysler did lot of weird things back and forth :eyes:

It is even worse on ww2 collectors FB groups, people making ridiculous claims about ridiculous (fake) items, a lot of bad info, I only go there for laughs.
I would trust a good messageboard like this one over FB any day.

There seems to be a large number of people on FB who either have consumed a steady diet of lead paint chips, or just troll post to stir things up.

People who have so-so insight or opinions seem to have to push harder to make them sound right.
Because they are not sure themselves of what they are saying.

They are actually some good groups on FB with a ton of knowledgeable info on there and unlike here you can't hide behind a screen name. I guess you can make up a FB name but that doesn't seem to be the case on most sites I'm on. Yeah there is some misinformation on there but seems there is always somebody on there also to correct it.

People on mainstream FB are more likely to spew nonsense about cars because there are less people to contradict them than on dedicated car forums.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

So how many people are on this forum and Moparts?

Ghoste

If you been an online Mopar fan a long time, you are likely on both.  At one time we didnt have a lot of choices.

The reason I asked John because he said they weren't many people on FB than dedicated car forums. I know the old school guys would never get on FB but they are 48k members in Mopars unlimited, 43k members in Mopar b body and 86k members on Mopar Muscle and swap meet.

moparstuart

mopar trader has  60,000 members also   and there are thousands of specific body style and year mopar pages  .   Met tons of great mopar people on Facebook
