Hello Folks!

Today I was trying to get the power window motors working.

Succeeded in activating the drivers side motor but not the passengers side....

Please take a look at the graphic which I "designed" and tell me to which pin each wire at switch on passenger side needs to be connected to...

A --> ?
B --> ?
C --> ?
D --> ?
E --> ?

AND another question is: In A, B, C have 12V if ignition is switched on. As the drawings tell, this would be correct?
I have the impression that having 3 wires with 12V does NOT seem to be correct......

Thanks

Roland

PS: I have the switches with exactly the same pins I assume they are not original are they?

rollo1504

and another question would be whats the purpose or meaning of the one pin on each switch which is longer than all other pins????

rollo1504

Ah sorry. Deleted the schematics from the manual. Will add it again when I am back home.....

I guess to be sure it will be plugged in just one position

I can't help too much but I can tell you from experience with mine, BOTH sides/switches must be working for one side to work. I had a bad switch on the driver side and even though the switch on passenger was fine, it did not work.
Just something to check.

The drivers side switch is working fine. I have tested both switches with motor from driver side and its OK.

I have found out following things with stock 30 amp breaker and stock safety relay:

- with ignition ON 12V will be provided to driver side switch and 12V will be also on all 4 pins which are for the motors. that means if switch is NOT active there are 12 v on both wires going to driver side window motor
- when driver side window switch is activated (up or down direction) then ONE of the wires (depends on up or down position of window switch) is grounded and this activates the motor.

Example:

a) Switch in center position: -> Both wires blue and brown have 12 volts
b) Switch in upper position: -> blue: 0 volts (grounded), brown: 12 volts -> motor moves up
c) Switch in down position: -> blue: 12 volts, brown 0 volts (grounded) -> motor moves down

Conlclusion: Everytime the switch is active one wire changes from 12V to ground and with the other wire which still has 12 v the motor gets activated (12v and ground)

My problem is now: that i have in total 3 wires on the passenger side which have 12v and I dont know how the need to be exactly connected. Further I think the "ground" is missing or in other words: if the passenger side switch is activated NONE of the to wires will be changed from 12v to ground which is needed to activate the motor....

Does anybody have the same switches installed like i do have and could provide some pictures of the wiring from the passenger side switch?

Thank you all.

I have the 68/69 power windows diagram at an external HDD I bring with me on my Spain stance ( yeah, I'm in Spain at this moment ) but it got a virus so I can't connect it to my laptop at this moment. It should be the same. Will try to get it somewhere.

UPDATE:

I figured out after a while of testing how my power window switches are working the proper way.

Could also find out that passenger side motor is broken...

Please find, whoever is interested in it, the new corrected schematics....

Hope this will save someones time when facing the same problems I did.

Regards and thanks for all help regarding this thread
