Alternator Wiring Question

Hey fellas-

Im rewiring my alternator and ammeter wires to not run through the bulkhead, have had some charging issues. And upon further inspection, the wires at the bulkhead are pretty wasted.

Quick and simple question, what is the second smaller wire coming from the output power lug on the alternator? It is mated into the same terminal connector on the alternator, Im pretty certain its a factory connector. It runs the whole way up to the bulkhead and plugs into the spot just above the larger alternator wire.

Any help would be appreciated

actually factory just run one wire, black 12 ga, between alt stud up to the main splice into the cab just right before the ammeter stud. Up to 69, another wire but violet was used from alt stud to feed the horn relay on radiator core support, not anymore since 70, being the relay moved to the cab. Any other wire is not factory really.

Awesome, thank you!

Seems to be what that second wire is powering.  :2thumbs:
