Hey folks!

I am planning to do my dash in the winter and I want to repair/restore my dash...

During my search in the internet I came to this site:

https://premiumdashdecals.com/?swoof=1&product_cat=se-charger&pa_year-2=1973&pa_product-service=dash-solutions-restorations%2Cdash-decals-ac-heater%2Cdash-decals-gauges

... I thought I could use this for my restoration process and now there is the question is buying these decals worth the money or not....?

Does anyone already have experience with these decals?

Thanks for any suggestion/comment

Regards

a friend of mine got them to his 72 Charger with standard Cluster ( I think from them ) in white and got satisfied

Stay away. They are basically paper stickers that go over the old.
I purchased one for my heater/AC controls and the light no longer shines thru. They do not reflect and I have not purchased any others but again they are simply stickers.
You'll have better luck with buffing yours lightly with compound and a bit of Vinyl-X or Back To Black to bring out the black.
Somewhere on here is a pic of my heater controls in the dark that no longer illuminate. I'm sorry I did it.  :brickwall:

Yes, heater-AC controls should allow to go throught the backlite. If they are a basic decal, this feature will be gone, but gauges shouldn't be a problem

I thought the gauges are silkscreened and therefore NOT transcendent.....Are they?

So it should be really no problem to use these stickers.... The only thing I am concerned about would be that they come off if the inner environment gets hot when car is parked in direct sunlight for a while....

Thanks for your opinions

once again, my buddy used BUT white gauges on standar cluster to his 72 Charger without problems, NOW I'm not really sure about if premium dash decals was the manufacturer? It seems they don have them listed on their website!

He lives on a city with a 40 Celsious average temperature down a constant sun and never reported me a problem.

The deal is he sold the car long time ago and we don't know where is at this moment, but it supported the heat for two years when he still owned it.

These decals are a pretty common refinish job.

Somebody at the 3rd gen board already made this and posted the final result.

Here is a job made if you wanna go deep into this, HOWEVER the decal used is IMHO not the best one. the font seems to be some odd againts the original font

( EDITING, on the last page brock says he got it from premiumdash... sooo I think if you find a better option will be better, for font correctness unless they got them better now. That thread is quite old )

I used them for my gauges and was happy with the results. I media blasted the metal and painted them with the paint they suggest. It was a good match. They would look more accurate if you send the gauges out to be screen printed, but the decals give you a satisfactory result. Much, much better than the rusted gauges I had. They are printed on a 3M vinyl, not paper. They did miss the boat on the heater controls, which are also smooth and not textured like the originals. Check out their youtube videos under Mr. Heaterbox.

Thanks for your input.

I would really like to see your dash illuminated by night if possible to see whats going to await me if I go down this road with media blasting, painting and use these premiumdashdecals...

E5 Charger

My car is stripped to a shell and on a rotisserie, so it will be years before the dash is functional. Hopefully someone can post a photo. Now I'm curious how it will look. It would be nice to see a comparison of regular vs LED bulbs too.

rollo1504

As I my dash was already completely broken when I bought the car I cannot provide pictures with normal light bulbs BUT during the next months I will rebuild my dash and will run it with LED's and then I will post some pictures.

I am also very curious by myself....

We will see.

Will keep you up to date.
