Hi.

I´m just wondering how many of those are around here...just like mine...

Cheers, Chris.

I had thought AA1 was a 1968 Color Code for Silver Metallic ?  and in 1969 Silver Metallic was changed to A4 ?

If your is a 1969 with the AA1 Code ? then probably not too many like yours here, yours is maybe even a "one of one" LOL

~15.6% of '68 Charger R/Ts are 4-speed (~1 out of 6) 2,743+ cars
~3.5% of '68 Charger R/Ts are "buffed - silver metallic" (~1 out of 30) 615+ cars (paint code "A" was the only tracked color in 1968)

in a perfect world ~100 '68 Charger R/Ts were built: 440 4-spd & painted AA1

1968 Charger R/T 440HP: I know of 5-automatics & 1-4-speed painted "AA1" * the 4-speed is XS29L8B34xxxx

My car was originally a AA1 Automatic with AC. When I bought it the previous owner had changed it to a 4 speed car. I restored the car with the 4 speed even though they did not come that way....here is a pic...

How about BB1 R/T's and 4 speed?

because "AA1" was hand "buffed" and Extra Cost, it was the only color that was tracked

This is what I was referencing.  The post says 68.  Why the question about "if yours is a 69".  yeah, maybe I'm just a grumpy old fart.

It appears the original topic stated 69 and was edited to 68.  You can thank me later.....

Yep true. If you read reply #1 it displays 69 in the subject bar. Replies #2 and on displays 68.

Does this hand buffing thing apply to silver 66 chargers as well? I have a factory aa1 66 charger 361 4 speed car.

yes, it does
1966 Charger 37,344 total built, available numbers are based on 31,209 (ONLY ~84% of production)
paint code A = "silver metallic" a $20.95 OPTION (because it was hand-buffed)

hand-buffed "silver metallic" paint 12.7% (~3,964 Chargers)
361 cu.in. 2bbl 18.9% (~5,899 Chargers)
361 cu.in. 2bbl & 4-speed manual transmission 1.5% (~468 Chargers)

"in a perfect-world" there would be ~71 361/4-speed/AA1/1966 Chargers

There's a nice feature on a 68 2 bbl 383 Charger in this months Hemmings muscle machines, it mentions the hand buffed silver.
